Stele/Rhymer/Mithel

There it is, my squadron. Or it supposed to be my squadron:

Maarek Stele (34)
TIE Advanced (27), Advanced Homing Missiles (3), Outmaneuver (3), Munitions Failsafe (1)

Major Rhymer (47)
TIE Bomber (26), Extra Munitions (2), Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6), Concussion Missiles (4), Push the Limit (3), Proton Bombs (5), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

“Mauler Mithel” (19)
TIE Fighter (17), Squad Leader (2)

100 points

Each ship can act as single unit, but there is a synergy between Mithel and Stele (TL), Stele and Rhymer (good alpha with crits at 2nd distation). All ships fly 4 forward and do 3 hard turn, so they are rather good in formation. Plus, they have 7 PS.

I like the ability of Stele, with this upgrades he has a very good chance to do something unpleasant with the most dangerous enemy ship.

I like Rhymer with APT and Proton bombs.

BUT:

I think, Rhymer is too expensive.

What would you suggest?

I suppose, The Inquisitor will fit very good.

Rhymer is far too expensive. I've seen him do.. ok with just APTs but hes super predictable. I'm not someone who feels the need for VI on everything but on rhymer its always my go to. My best performing build for the pts is thus iirc:

Rhymer- VI, EM, adv homing missiles, prockets, failsafe 36 pts.

I agree. Too many eggs in Ryhmer's basket. Loaded up like this, be will likely not get a shot off before your opponent decides to grease him quick.

How are you going to reliably get critical hits with Steele? I like outmaneuver alot, but the Advance isn't an Interceptor. You may struggle a bit trying to make that work, and at 3 points you really need it to work.

Advanced Targeting Computer and/or Marksmanship would be better than Ordnance for getting the most out of Steele.

If you really want all that Ordnance in your squad, how about another bomber? If one gets killed, at least all those sweet bombs and missiles didn't go with the one. Good luck!

Aye, I knew something was up when I saw this list with "Mithel" in it, as I've designed a similar Rhymer n' Maarek list (but got Turr Phennir in their instead!).

Way, way too many points on Major Rhymer. He is very difficult to keep alive, so you want to load him out light. At least drop those Proton Bombs off of him, they're screaming for Rhymer to get murdered very hard. And maybe switch the Concussion Missiles to Advanced Homing if you really want those Advanced Protons?

That puts him at 41, which is still heavier than I'd personally like but at least it's six points you can invest someplace better than Mithel.

And Maarek... not a huge fan of that loadout. If you can, get your hands on the title and ATC, because without em' Maarek is sadly pretty terribad. My baseline Maarek Stele is just: TIE/x1, Advanced Targeting Computer, Predator. That's it. If you got three points for AHMs, sure, but not necessary (and another four points with the failsafe you can invest into your third squadmate).

I think you're on a solid track, I've enjoyed toying around with my "Lucky 7s" (Stele, Rhymer, Phennir), but right now you need some tweaks for these guys to really live up to their potential.

All at PS 9. COuld switch out Fel for VI Vader if youd rather
