Does Asty's abilty work with A targeting astromech?

Technically it is a RED maneuver being treated as a white. If it is possible, the idea would be to Talon roll, receive target lock, boost into position, then PTL a focus.

The card text says "you may" treat the T-Roll as white. So it's optional. However, if you treat them as red to trigger an equipped Targeting Astromech, all other consequences of a red maneuver would apply.

So yes, you can equip Asty with a TA and pull a red T-Roll, then trigger the TA, but then you get the stress so no more actions.
