Best 3 (or 4) X-wing List

By Stone37, in X-Wing

Also, R2-D2 on Ello sounds good in theory, but I wonder how often he'll be doing greens?

Not sure what else you'd do with those 4 points. Playing around with some ideas but I'm not coming up with much. BB-8 and Weapons Guidance, but again need to do a green...

With the Elite and modification slot taken, there just isn't a ton more to spend those points on.

I'm running into the same problem as I mess with this list. Looking forward to some more Tech options. I'm surprised that there is only two thus far, even after the FO and T-70 expansions come out. I'd like to see a cheap 1 pointer and a really powerful 4 pointer.

the T-70 is an incredibly underwhelming ship even in regards to the T-65, mathematically speaking

Points wise yes, it's not as efficient as a T-65, which it's a serious shame that FFG botched yet another ship's point value. I honestly don't get it sometimes, it almost seems like FFG has split personality or something. Some ships they just nail, others they just miss by a mile. It's harder to understand now, in wave 8 since they have so much more experience than when the game first released. I mean it's easy to forgive them the T-65, but having the T-70 also overvalued... I just don't get it.But unless you're playing serious competition I think it's a great ship with everything it offers beyond the generic T-65.

I would definitely agree with you. However, I think FFG knows what they're doing and will eventually increase the point cap that's currently at 100 points. The game is on its eighth wave, and is gaining a lot of popularity. Raising the point cap for instance by 10 points would encourage even more diversity in list building.

Here's an idea...

PILOTS

“Red Ace” (37)

T-70 X-Wing (29), R5-P9 (3), Comm Relay (3), Autothrusters (2)

Ello Asty (35)

T-70 X-Wing (30), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2)

Blue Squadron Novice (28)

T-70 X-Wing (24), R3-A2 (2), Weapons Guidance (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

On Red Ace you could drop Autothrusters and R5-P9 for R2-D2 and put a R2 on Ello. I only have one starviper, so I'm limited to 2 Autothrusters.

Or there's this...

PILOTS

“Red Ace” (36)

T-70 X-Wing (29), R2-D2 (4), Comm Relay (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

Blue Squadron Novice (27)

T-70 X-Wing (24), R2 Astromech (1), Autothrusters (2)

Poe Dameron (37)

T-70 X-Wing (31), R5-P9 (3), Weapons Guidance (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

This is my current plan for a T-70 XXX list.

Ello Asty (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Poe Dameron (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R5-P9 (3)
Autothrusters (2)
"Blue Ace" (27)
R7-T1 (3)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Total: 99
R7-T1 on Blue Ace is a bit of a gimmick, but it's something I want to try. :-)

4 Blue Squadron Novices with R2 Astromechs and Integrated Astromech are surprisingly tough, though. That's effectively 28 hull paired with great dials and mobility.

I'm also fond of this one:

Wedge with Push the Limit, BB-8 and Integrated Astromech (34)

Wes with VI, R7-T1 and IA (33)

Porkins with VI, R3-A2 and IA (29)

Still leaves 4 points remaining for an initiative bid, which can probably also go towards a Plasma Torpedo on Wedge.

I've run a similar version that drops the droids from Wedge and Wes, along with PTL. That gives you 12 points to bring in a Bandit Squadron Pilot, but Porkins is the only one who can use IA there.

Bit more expensive, but R7 w/IA might be a nice stock option. It puts you past the 25 point mark, so can't fit 4. But as a defensive option it might work pretty well. I know people hate seeing it on Tarn. In his case it's almost custom made for him, but even without his ability it might work pretty well.

How about a T-65 version of BBBBZ?

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Rookie Pilot (22) x 4

How about a T-65 version of BBBBZ?

Only issue is you need 4 T-70 expansions, which means 5 T-70's... If you had 4 copies of IA or wanted to proxy that could be a fun list to fly.

You be like, "Ello asty, where you been?

It's time you brought the grimy beats up from the dungeon"

Yeah. I'm more likely to try something like XXBBZ. The X- and B-Wings complement each other nicely here: two fast attack jousters, and two slower knife-fighters. Plus, I'd only need two T-70 expansions on top of what I already have to pull it off.

I'm actually a big fan of R5 and IA. It gives you the option of turning a crit into a regular hit or canceling it all together.

A list that I think looks like fun is:

Ello Asty

-Veteran Instincts

-R5-K6

-Autothrusters

Tarn Mison

-R7

-Integrated Astromech

Hobbie Klivian

-Targeting Astromech

-Integrated Astromech

Bandit Squadron Pilot

This could be fun/effective and I look forward to trying it out. However, I am at a loss regarding how to kit out Ello. Its cool to see all of your ideas.

I think I got it

my least favorite part of the T-70 is its lack of dice mods :o (except, ofc, for Poe)

the seeming maximum is ye ole predator + focus combo, accented perhaps with WG at most. With TA failing to come through, these guys don't have much else to go on (LW ofc), and that makes it very difficult to outfit the none Poe pilots. Asty especially looks really fun , but farting around with just a focus is going to leave much to be desired

while FOs also don't pack on the dice mods, even an upgraded Omega Leader only costs as much as a naked Red Vet

Someone has to make a squad called the beastie boys.

Hello nasty was one of their better, more recent albums.

Adrock, mc-a, and Mike d.

Ad rock dodger could be an x wing with the new core set Astromech that lets you ignore obstacles.

Mc-A wing? With "jew"k ( all 3 beasties were Jewish)

And Mike d... Hmmm. Maybe a defensive poe l? Hard, like a diamond? I dunno.

RIP MCA.

Asty's gonna be rockin' Outmaneuver or Predator more often than not so that'll help make up for those dice mods. Of course then he loses out on VI, but that's only a moderate problem.

I kind of like the sound of this one:

Wes Janson/VI/R3-A2/IA

Wedge/R2 astro/PTL/Engine

Hobbie/R2-D6/Opportunist/IA

Poe Dameron — T-70 X-Wing 31

Veteran Instincts 1

R5-P9 3

Autothrusters 2

Ship Total: 37

Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 29

Push the Limit 3

BB-8 2

Engine Upgrade 4

Ship Total: 38

Tarn Mison — X-Wing 23

R7 Astromech 2

Integrated Astromech 0

Ship Total: 25

List like this looks fun to me, if you can keep wedge alive that is...

I've got:

38: Poe w/ VI, R5-P9, 'thrusters, weapons guidance

32: Wedge w/ PtL, BB-8, integrated astro

26: Biggs w/ R4-D6, integrated astro

Total: 98

Poe is the best T-70, and Biggs and Wedge are the two best T-65s. But it's got two high PS, very accurate shooters and Biggs to shield them. I even sprung for an initiative bid which I don't normally do. You could drop the weapons guidance and the bid to buy Wedge an engine upgrade. It makes him dodgier but softer.

My T-65 Rogue Squadron List, currently sitting at 5-3:

ROGUE SQUADRON

Wedge, Wes, Luke

99 points

PILOTS

Wes Janson (34)
X-Wing (29), R2-D2 (4), Veteran Instincts (1)

Luke Skywalker (31)
X-Wing (28), R5-K6 (2), Veteran Instincts (1)

Wedge Antilles (34)
X-Wing (29), R2 Astromech (1), Opportunist (4)

No wonder you insurgents are on the defensive. Try flying without shields! , or without pet robots. Joking aside, as an imp player, I find a combo of ships difficult. Like XAB, not xxx. I don't expect to win with 3 interceptors.. Just saying.

4 x Red + Integrated Astromech + Targeting Astromech

:P

Want to try this out as it does offer some shenanigans.

Hello Kitty: Cool Hand, R2, weapons guidance, IA

Red Ace: R5-P9, Comm Relay, IA

Blue Ace: Herobot, Predator, IA

Built to abuse thr various abilities. Red tanks with focus actions to regen if damaged and keeps his evade. Kitty keeps stress free as long as possible using focus to up damage output and Blue abuses boost to get close, with predator to make sure of some dice modding capability. Not competitive, but should be fun.
