Now that I actually want to use the upgrade card, I have lost the insert that explains precicely when the Z-95 is deployed (the moment the ship is destroyed, or at the end of the combat phase?), and I need to confirm that the Z-95 cannot shoot during the round that it is deployed.

Searches on the interwebs has not yeilded the rules.

The moment the Hound's Tooth is destroyed but before removing the ship from the table. You need to have something to place the escape template against.

You can take an action, but you can't attack.

So pew-pew-pew and the Hound's Tooth is dead, in the middle of the combat phase, out pops the pup, takes his action, remove the Hound's Tooth, and everyone goes back to pew-pew-pew.

Yeah, pretty much... as long as the Pup does deploy onto an asteroid or another ship. Basically the deployment is counted as a regular maneuver, so overlaps and such are treated normally for it. If it's clear, you've got an action but no attack. Back to pew-pew-pew for everyone else.
