Anyone heard from Space Rocks lately?

I hat to do this in such a public way, but I'm running out of options.

Back in September I ordered one of their Nebulon-B Frigate models from the space-rocks.net website. It took them a while to respond but they explained that they had just moved to the US from the UK and were catching up on back orders. I was promised my order would ship "by the end of next week", but no shipping notification ever came. On November 19th they sent out a Christmas update about back orders and holiday shipping, saying they had hired extra help to manage the holiday orders.

Since then, nothing. I have tried email contact numerous times, and also through their ebay store but no response. Last website activity was in September and about the same for their Facebook page. Latest feedback on ebay is negative with no response.

Does anyone know what happened to them? Anyone else in the same situation regarding unfulfilled orders?

I pre-ordered one way back in August through ebay. The auction isn't even viewable anymore haha - I sent an email through their web client a few days ago requesting an update but haven't heard back - I suppose now I know I shouldn't expect one lol

Yeah, i contacted them back in november and they advised they were running a bit late. I did just check a followup to see if I can get what's up.

I suspect Demand overwhelmed supply.

Are these orders prepaid? Or do they bill you when it ship?

Last time I spoke to Mike they were moving the whole show to the US, which obviously delays a lot of things, but you might expect some communication to that effect

Yes, that apparently happened in October & early November. I'm including below the last email received from them on November 19th:

Hi Guys,

As you may (or may not!) know, we've been moving to a new production facility over the past month or so. We've come a long way since starting in a shed back in July 2014! Boy have we grown since then!

Your support has been absolutely phenomenal. To say we've experienced some growing pains these past few months is probably a massive understatement(!), and the move hasn't gone as well as planned. But we're back on our feet and quickly becoming a far slicker, speedier outfit.

Here's a little update for you!

Christmas orders

If you want our X-Wing scale Neb-B in time for Christmas, you'll need to order it by midnight November 22nd(this Sunday)!

Orders for all our other products placed by midnight November 25th are also guaranteed to be received by Christmas.

Any orders after this will not be dispatched until late January as there will be a few weeks where production shuts down over the holiday period.

We pride ourselves on getting back to you within 24 hours, but in the past few weeks we've fallen short of that. This is due to a combination of us being massively busy and intermittent internet (no one said this move would be easy!). If you've emailed us, we'll be in touch soon...we're currently working through a backlog. Hopefully this email answers most of your questions!

Upcoming products

We have lots of projects on the back burner. New asteroid bases to match the asteroid counters in the Force Awakens X-Wing core set will be released in the next week. New, improved turbolasers for X-Wing, new Space Stations for Armada and a host of products for Imperial Assault and Star Trek Attack Wing will also be released first quarter of 2016.

The future of Space Rocks

Once upon a time, we made and dispatched orders within 4 working days. Then lots of people started loving our stuff, which is amazing, but at times we've just not been able to keep up! We're racing to get back to dispatching speedily.

Better tools, faster production processes and more staff are helping us catch up with the orders that we have. The Christmas rush and the recent move have quashed our hopes we'd be at 4-day-dispatch by now, but come the new year when things are a little quieter (we hope!) we'll be back to producing and dispatching orders the moment they come in.

Going forward, you can expect to receive more regular updates from us just like this one (hopefully with progressively better news!)

So, just to recap:

  • any outstanding orders will be with you by Christmas
  • if you want to order anything in time for Christmas, you need to get your order in by midnight on November 22nd for the Neb-B, and midnight November 25th for everything else
  • orders placed after this will be shipped late January
  • we're constantly improving and getting faster
  • we have a ton of new stuff coming your way
