Help with the drexl

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm trying to assemble stats for the drexl -- both the the flightless larva and the ridable winged adults. I want to make at least the latter in the same vein as the beasts from Stay on Target, but I'm not sure which way to go about this particular creature. Any help is appreciated.

The article you referenced compares them to Krayt Dragons, which may or may not have been statted up yet officially, but I imagine there are probably some unofficial versions running around.

I’d be inclined to start there, or maybe with the Rancor, and then modify to suit.

I think the big differences are going to be the ability to fly, the resistance to being mind-controlled by the Force, and how you work out that three people are going to typically ride on the back of that thing.

Yeah, I figured, although I hate to add all of it's different capabilities and bog it down with rule after ability after stipulation. I figureed silhouette 3, at least, with maybe a rank or two of Stubborn and Flyer, and probably high Willpower to induce negative handling, but I'm not sure how I would go about implementing the resistance to mind control.

The mind control would be an opposed roll, right? So, how about giving it not only a high Will, but also a number of ranks in a “Contrariness” or “Ornery” talent, which gives it the equivalent number of ranks in Discipline with regards to resisting being controlled by someone. So, it wouldn’t have the Discipline skill per se, but it would have the equivalent defense as if it did.

EDIT: So, now maybe the check becomes Daunting or even Formidable, with four upgrades? ;)

Don’t forget to lay on the setback dice for conditions that could make the process even more difficult.

Maybe: "Strong-willed 2: upgrade the ability of Willpower checks to resist attempts to control or effect the mind of a drexl by 2". Something along those lines?
