Yes. Unlimited Crack Shot attacks. Unlimited Red maneuvers with Adrenaline Rush. Pretty great ability.

Crackshot is ridiculous (essentially, it's better than Wedge's ability) but 2 dice are still only 2 dice
Thomas the Crack Engine could well be worth it at 25 points as part of a Howlie swarm for all we know

Could still use Concussion Missiles. Or Homing Missiles with CS for a double FU to Soontir Fel and his similar ilk.
My biggest worry is his survivability. Bombers can take a wee bit of a beating, but two green dice and no shields means that six hull can break pretty quick. I don't think Crack Shot with only his two dice is going to be a super effective usage of your points, and you'll really need to load some armaments on him to make it worthwhile. Adrenaline Rush, Lightning Reflexes, and Cool Hand could all make him in one way or another more survivable, but he loses that tasty Crack. I guess the question becomes "Can you keep him alive long enough with Crack Shot to get enough usage out of it, or will something like Adrenaline Rush keep him alive long enough to make it a better choice?"
And I don't think it's a question you can strictly mathwing out: it'll come down to how a player (or players in general) can manage to fly the TIE Bomber with it's unusual dial.
Another fun use for Tomax may be to go 100% support ship with him: Cool Hand + Fleet Officer, you're getting a Focus or Evade and passing out two more focus to allies for 28pts (or 29 for TIE/MkII). Probably not super competitive, but damned amusing (and one of the few uses for Cool Hand I can imagine)./

thing with PS 8 being lower than 9 is that people don't look at R3-A2 on a goldie and go "hah! low PS? it'll never see play!"
the further away from your target, the wider the firing arc extends and the harder it is for soontir to duck out of getting shot
Homing Missiles take care of the rest
really, I only find the bomber's frame to be concerning.

I don't see this being worth it unless Systems Officer (if that's truly its name), the last unspoiled upgrade in the Imp Veteran set, is what I suspect it to be
(something that works with Fleet Officer by giving a benefit, hopefully a TL, after a green maneuver)
