Scum and Villainy Podcast: Patreon Supporters

By Grayfax, in X-Wing

If you do not look at each of the posts of the Scum and Villainy podcast, you may have missed something in the most recent one. The Scum and Villainy Podcast has opened up a Patreon account:

Several of us have already gotten them to the first milestone, which allows for a better hosting site. Come join us and see if we cannot get them to the next milestone or two with video footage of actual games and Scum and Villainy commentary. That should be easy to reach as we are already halfway there. The next milestone will be more list coverage. Hopefully you listened to the last one where they took on the "green arrow list" and with this milestone we could see more of that.
Personally, I think the guys need to come up with some more milestones, but that's just me. Oh, and if you think you have a list worth talking about, become a Black Sun Ace and you can send in a list for review and possibly to talk about on air.

If you're a Black Sun Ace we will get to your list either in a podcast or we'll play the list for a night on a twitch stream and give our thoughts on it. I like the thought of giving submitted lists for a spin for a few games on Vassal to see how they play in a random environment.

Hurray! Milestone 2 achieved (videos of game footage with commentary) and now there are 4 Black Sun Aces for the Podcast! It's not too late to join in... and I still say we need some more milestone goals guys!

6 Black Sun Aces

2 Hired Guns

3 Syndicate Thugs

0 Cartel Spacers

$15* more to reach the last milestone!

(*probably a little bit more due to Patreon's overhead costs, but it is something close to this figure)

Congratulations! The Scum and Villainy Podcast has reached all initial milestones for Patreon, so some lists will be talked about on the podcast.

A new Stretch Milestone (if you will) has been added of an extra interview each month with someone in the X-Wing community. We're still $25 per month away from that, but if you want to hear more interviews, this is your chance!

7 Black Sun Aces

2 Hired Guns

4 Syndicate Thugs

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you who helped us reach our goals. It's very humbling and much appreciated.

We definitely had the "Gonna need a bigger boat (goal)" when we got so close to our highest one so fast.

I'm totally looking forward to taking lists from the Black Sun Aces and flying them on twitch/youtube.

I'll likely take out Green Arrow for a spin unless I get a user submitted list first tho.

Is it possible to do a one-time lump payment rather than per episode?

Is it possible to do a one-time lump payment rather than per episode?

I will find a way! I will not turn down any help.

Now that you've seen the movie... the next time you plan to go in this weekend or next week, think about saving the money you would pay for the large popcorn / drink and donate a few dollars of that to support an episode from some really cool guys bringing us better than ever podcasts! If you downgrade one of them to a medium you'll still get more popcorn and soda than you need, but you'll be proud that you helped support the podcast the next time you listen to it.

And let's face it, even if we all pitched in $5 per episode it wouldn't pay these guys to do the show, all we're paying for is a bit of storage space and bandwidth so they can produce a better show. They're still donating their time to do this for us because they enjoy it. I respect that and felt it was only right to help them out a bit, and maybe a few of us will join in together and see where it takes us.

Until next time... enjoy the show!

One more day until the next recording begins! Way to go Biophysical and Starslinger72 on making it onto the broadcast... especially looking forward to hearing about the Defenders!

As of today, we have made a little more progress with the following:

7 Black Sun Aces

2 Hired Guns

8 Syndicate Thugs

Join in and see the show notes... yep, it's a thing... and pretty cool too...

Oh, and if you want to download it early, just in case you are driving, supporters do get access to the podcast a day early... just sayin'...

thanks everyone for your support. we've got some fun new goals lined up after we hit our $75 interview-series goal.

the team is super psyched and very much looking forward to recording our Christmas episode!

Good thing you called it a Christmas episode and not a Life Day episode /facepalm...

Looking forward to reaching the next Milestone so we can see what else is in store!

I am soooo glad we got to the Twitch milestone. The last two nights have been really entertaining and educational! As well as fun to listen to. If you have not chipped in a little bit yet, head on over to Patreon and sign up. Not only did we see Sable Gryphon versus Texx (Dallas Parker) last night, but tonight we got to watch Paul Heaver take on Voidstate (Blair Bunke)! On both occasions after the match was over, the players joined the Twitch stream and talked about the game and answered questions.

Should we be paying a lot more to watch this content? Yes! Yes! Yes... but we have some awesome Scum and Villainy pirate lords that believe we should all get to share in this, and a few supporters that made it happen! In fact, I've been so impressed with what we're getting that I'm going to throw in a bit more myself and up my per episode pledge (though if you are counting pennies, these are provided free with the charge per episode only being the normal Scum and Villainy podcast episodes).

Great work you guys and great resources to be able to bring in some of the best players in the game and allow us to see and listen to what and why happened during the match!

Quick update... we are only about $10 per episode away from reaching the $75 Goal of an extra interview per month!

7 Black Sun Aces

4 Hired Guns (+2 New)

12 Syndicate Thugs (+4 New)

With Store Championship season upon us, I would certainly like to hear more about what's going on... so come join us and see what we can help the Scum and Villainy Podcast accomplish!

Hooray! Thanks to the guys over on Reddit, we broke all the Milestones... guess it is time for some additional goals for all those extra supporters!

Those guys are pretty good... over $20 in less than 2 hours!

9 Black Sun Aces (+2 New)

6 Hired Guns (+2 New)

13 Syndicate Thugs (+1 New)

I'll add my contributions here shortly. Love you guys!

Nice... and the next time you are on the S&V Podcast, you can dictate what the show is about and just say, "I'm paying you guys... this is what we're going to talk about!" EvilEd indeed!

Closing in on $100 per Episode in supporting the Scum and Villainy Podcast! Way to go you guys (and everyone on Reddit that chipped in!)

Here's hoping we get some new milestones or levels of Patrons soon...

10 Black Sun Aces (+1 New)

7 Hired Guns (+1 New)

15 Syndicate Thugs (+2 New)

Maybe in the next few episodes we'll get to hear some behind the scenes on the Making of the Vassal League and what finally was the tipping point that brought in 207 Players around the world.

We've come a long way in a relatively short period of time (unless you compare time to the X-Wing main page where time dilation is active and strong!) and now have a new goal to reach!

If we can get them to $125 per episode, the following will be unlocked:

"We will commit to live, on the ground coverage of GenCon and FFG Worlds tournaments with interviews from top players, up to date* coverage, and hopefully live casting the games if we can get the OK from FFG."

This might include some X-Wing Open coverage in the Hoth system (read: Illinois)... which would be pretty cool especially with the new Hangar Bay format. To be honest, I would really like to hear from the final days of the X-Wing Open in London, but I'm not sure we could reach that goal for the 2016 Open. Maybe they can add on a foreign correspondent for some local color...

I would give an update of the Black Sun Aces, Hired Guns and Syndicate Thugs, but I am no longer able to see how many are there so we'll just have to go with rawish numbers and say we are only $2 away from $100 and $27 to go for more on the ground coverage of the big tournaments. I would be happy with the interviews and updates, but possibly seeing some live casting during those tournaments would be pretty cool IMHO.

"Maybe they can add on a foreign correspondent for some local color..."

That's one heck of a good idea!
