TIE Shuttle, using a title to make a new ship instead of making a brand new ship.

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So when looking at the production shot you can see the TIE shuttle title for TIE bombers.

squinting at the text you see the following.

TIE Bomber only Title:

Your Upgrade bare looses all <missile>,<torpedo>,and<bomb> upgrade slots and gains 2 <Crew> upgrade slots. You can only equip <crew> upgrades that cost 4 or less (as they are on their way to apologize to Vader)

Okay that last one I made up but yeah a TIE shuttle?

So First thing do you think this could be used more often instead of making new ships just give another ship a title that rearranges the upgrade slots. Also how do you feel that the TIE Shuttle is not getting its own ship?

Second of all? What would you put in a TIE Shuttle. My first thought was Emperor but as he cost 8 which is > 4 that would not be a possibility.

is this cheap enough to work with fleet officer and kanos? or still not worth it?

perhaps kanos and vess to help both of them?

My buddy actually converted one of his bombers into the tie shuttle a while back. I think this is a really nice way to expand the usefulness of ships and hit some of the more obscure ships in the series.

Not sure how I would use it just yet.

The TIE Shuttle is actually part of Legends lore for the Bomber chassis. It's a legit title option that's been mentioned here before.

Yeah, the Tie Shuttle is literally a bomber with seats put in place of the ordnance.

Well, Bombadier is out, because the title takes away your bomb slot.

Rebel Captive and Tactician might be a nice stress-y little combo.

Agent Kallus and Mercenary Co-Pilot would let you change an eyeball to a boom, then change that boom to a kaboom.

I don't think there's enough hull to make Vader viable.

I like it. I think the TIE Shuttle makes for a great thematic support ship.

The Emperor's Hand is returning a captured Jedi to the fleet ... (Mara Jade + Rebel Captive)

An Imperial Admiral is transiting to her command ship with an aide ... (Ysanne Isard + Tactician)

An Imperial Moff returns to Imperial Center from a secret construction project ... (Moff Jerjerrod + Intelligence Agent)

Imperial agents man a specially equipped shuttlecraft ... (Agent Kallus + Saboteur)

Scimitar Squadron Pilot + Title + Navigator + Intelligence Agent = Let's Block Everything.

Another Scimitar Squadron Pilot + Title + Navigator + Mara Jade = Let's Also Stress You.

The tie shuttle was actually a filmed ship in the original trilogy.

I believe it was Chilligan who brought this particularly awesome combo up in another thread, but check this build out-

Tomax Bren (24)
Cool Hand (1)
Fleet Officer (3)
Agent Kallus (2)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
TIE Shuttle (0)

Total: 31

Fleet Officer some focus tokens to friends, Grab yourself a focus or evade from Cool Hand every round, and use Agent Kallus to assure your opponents ace doesn't shred him while you punch through some (admittedly minimal) damage while keeping a token for defense.

Cool, right?????!

Also Yet Another squad builder is now updated! Yaaaaa hooooo!!!!

I'm liking this approach, personally. Hoping FFG do something similar to give us a Recon-X. Something that takes up your torpedo slot and maybe decreases your attack to 2, but increases your agility and maybe gives you some kind of thematic ability - a free coordinate action every round? Some kind of sensor ping action? A sensor or tech slot? (though there's need to be some mechanic to keep accuracy corrector off them) Maybe even a modified Jam action that delivered the stress at the start of the combat phase.

There are other options too. Longprobe Y Wing, TIE/rc, Clone Wars spec Z-95 (though that could be a new model, I guess), Vaksai refit for the Kihraxz... There's a tonne of potential. :D

What does Tomax do? I can't read the card.

I think Fleet Officer is a great ship, especially if you want to have other Tie Bombers. Remember how it's too hard to get a TL and a Focus in the same round? Well, this way you can give out the Focus to two other ships that can also grab TL's. Cheaper than putting it on a Shuttle.

I've had good luck with Fleet Officer and a bunch of Tie Fighters (Dark Curse, Night Beast, Backstabber, and 2 Academy) that I call Space Cowboys (escorts for the Space Cow). It can be done cheaper now with a Tie Shuttle. I found it surprising for Tie Fighters when you can dish out a free Focus each round.

Not sure what would be good for a second crew, though.

That's an interesting alternative to the Lambda variant. Previously, you'd take a Lambda Shuttle with Advanced Sensors and a Fleet Officer for 27 points. Use AS to trigger the Fleet Officer, then immediately reveal a green move to clear it.

The Brenmobile costs more, but generates more tokens and can still use Cool Hand once per round. His durability between the evade token, extra green dice and Kallus is probably going to be comparable, as well.

Double Flight Instructor. Lol JK.

Double Intel Agent.

Tactician.

Weapons Engineer and Long Range Scanners to keep up TL's for Vessery.

Mara Jade and Rebel Captive.

Tactician and Adrenaline Rush and the non-discard EPT guy. Constantly K Turn and do red manuevers to stay close to things. Crackshot is kind of an autoinclude on him but you could load him out differently.

Basically he doesn't discard single use EPTs

Jonus with Fleet Officer.

The ultimate buff monster... and still space for one more crew to come. :)

Do you shoot him (He's already done his !Cracken effect by then), or his buddies carrying the missiles? :D

This is a very cool upgrade. I can see three cool builds already that I'll try out competitively. 1x bomber with tacticain, 2 x bomber with tactican or 1x bomber with tacticain, captive.

A tie bomber with tactician and captive isn't quite as good at control as the stress hog but it doesn't stress itself, is cheaper and will punish somebody for targeting it. Alternatively perhaps two bombers with tactican for reliable double stress will be a thing. Ten more points to put on the board than the stress hog but with more hull, evade and arcs aswell as the chance to stress two ships makes it very interesting.

Most likely though a lone 18 point tactician deleivery system will be used. Given how playing against a swarm can mess with people's heads, as they try to avoid being blocked and lose actions, having this cheap little stress dealer to deal with aswell can really add to the confusion.

EDIT. I'm just focusing on stress but this shuttle will be used to get a crew card effect onto the board as cheaply as possible on a **** that is more manouverable than the lambda.

I'm pretty pumped for the possibilities this allows.

Well that cross section book is wrong because the one in the film is different.

x5 tactician with mix of Navigator and intel agent for maximum blocking to make up for lack of attack dice and with all the tact stress that should be easy???

Yay or nay?

Well, you have Navigator on a ship. So no. :P

Weapons Engineer and Long Range Scanners to keep up TL's for Vessery.

Question: does the Shuttle Title removal of ordinance slots then make Long Range Scanner's requirement of a Torpedo and Missile Slot an invalid upgrade?

Well, you have Navigator on a ship. So no. :P

What's wrong with Navigator? It seems like a solid choice on a PS 2 ship that has barrel roll and knows what his opponent's dial is set to.
