[Imperial Veterans] What We Know (and why it's classified)

By Tipperary, in X-Wing

^Hey, he's PS3, and didn't they use a lot of would-be Bomber pilots from Black Eight as Advanced pilots in the Raider?

How likely is it the Glaive Squadron Pilot will have an EPT?

Maarek Stele's ability is pretty good on a TIE Advanced with ATC and with Advanced Homing Missiles. Not so great on a Defender without Mangler Cannon.

I hope the fact that you can't see any of the Defender points values means they will be significantly lower than the previously released Defender pilot cards. They admitted that they had overvalued the utility of a white K-turn. And with so many ships and abilities out that can negate the penalties for a red K-turn, that white K-turn isn't worth the 6 points that a PS1 Defender pays over a PS2 T-70.

I certainly don't think Defenders should conform equally to T-70s, the way people seem to think T-65s should, but the value for point should be taken into account. With the new titles, I think Defenders are only 4-5 points over costed now. They fit into a list if the rest of it is very points efficient, so they play nicely with named TIE Fighters. If standard games were bumped up to 120 points I could see them getting table time after the excitement from the Veterans pack dies down.

At 26 points for a Delta, you could fit 3 PS1 Defender/x7, and 1 PS1 Defender/D with Flechette cannon in to a 100 point list.

I would run an experiment if I had 4 defenders, to see how they fare against 4 PS2 TLT Y-wings.

And good job breaking the game. The new ships are going to be inline with the costing of the original ships, because the titles are costed with the old ships in mind.

idk man,

-2 points for free evades seem really overpriced to me :P

..and here I was, for months/years?, reading "deathfire mcdibs" here and there, thinking "*lol* yeah, they should name someone like that. would be hilarious".

then, along comes "talonbane cobra" and I think: "*lol* so over the top" I still get a good chuckle out of it every time I see it.

and now I read that "deathfire mcdibs" is for real? for years now?!

    :D

someone at lucas arts had to be really drunk cool to wave that through..!

cheers to whoever had the idea and cheers to the guy who okay'd it

I guess we can wait for Savage Opress to show up.

And that is even a canon name.

yeah.. but that sounds more like a 5year old had an idea, and daddy, in all his love, put that in the clone wars, not realising what he did..

Deathfire McDibs is a manly name! Manly as in "well, after a shared crate of beer (usually 20-24), my buddy dared me to it.. AND BOY, DID I DARE!" ;D

What?? 4 defenders with titles on the table would be way too strong. That's nuts.

The difference between the t-70 and the defender is the white 4 k, and, crucially, an extra agility. Makes a massive difference.

He's dead so yeah

It makes a difference against 1 hit of 1 attack.

And that's not always the case since every faction has one or more ways to ignore evade tokens.

Omega Leader is going to be ridiculously powerful in Imperial vs Imperial match ups with x7 defenders.

When did that stop anyone? :P.

So was Maul, until he got better.

But no, Savage belongs to the period we won't visit in this game, so that's out of the question.

He was confirmed dead

Unlike maul

Saavage Opresss then, the twisted clone. :P

For those not wanting to click open the spoiler, silly discussion on the Clone Wars, nothing serious.

Adding an evade result isn't considered "modifying dice" is it?

It sure is! Page 5 of the Rules reference, Modify Defense Dice.

This is an old revelation when people realized Autoblaster Turrets ignore spent evade tokens because evade tokens count as dice results.

Oh, yeah, I guess Auto Blasters and Autoblaster turrets are good at killing both x7 and Poe Dameron. Ten Numb is pretty useful with Mangler Cannon for getting critical hits that can't be canceled by anything.

Omega Leader, "el Presidente"; Big Daddy Dark Curse shuts down everything except for additional or reduced dice (note not dice results; actual physical dice ala range bonsuses)

I suppose the TIE Shuttle negates the need for the TIE Scout. Too bad, it's such a beautiful ship.

I know you are being sarcastic about the beautiful ship part, but I still believe it has design space left for it.

A small based ship that can carry minimal crew and give out positive buffs for friendly's and/or negative de-buffs for enemy's.

Well, Dark Curse is only when Dark Curse gets shot at.

Omega Leader is the man.

Jedi Master Bayts

No one is ever topping that one for the title of ridiculous name.

Ah yes, the old Master. Very much the hands-on type of Jedi.
