My one, single, solitary regret with the whole pack is that it doesn't come with PS1/PS2 pilot cardboard.
Because I want to add these suckers to my collection and fly them as a matter of routine. ![]()

Considering how many of each upgrade the pack comes with, you're probably best-off buying 1-2x of each standard expansion and 1 copy of Vets.

I hate TIE Defenders...
Soon you will have plenty of opportunity to indulge your hate and let it flow. Defenders are coming. Lots of them. And they have lots of hate to dish out too after sitting on the shelves at Barnes and Nobles and LGSs everywhere.
But, buuut.... How did you even?!

Fine I won't end you.
This time.

Armada is better
Nope.
Armada is good - great, even - but the speed and simplicity of X-Wing makes it the clear winner.
By that metric, tic-tac-toe should be the best game ever created. ![]()
TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers, and TIE Defenders are my favorite TIEs. This is a really good time for me.
Check this guy out, he doesn't even list the TIE Avenger as his favorite. Pffft.

Vessery+4 FOs? A cheap Vessery with Vader and Fel? A 3D control list?
Choices... So many choices.

What?
Is ffg making anti psychotic medications now? Is that what this thread is about?
Definitely. Theyre already in the plastic crack business.
Plastic Crack is the polar opposite of anti-psychotic ![]()
It's decent, but Rebel aces was pretty great too.
I'm not sure the bomber is fixed yet. The shuttle title is good, but at that point it's like a whole new ship. We haven't seen guidance chips though, so it's too early to tell.
I'm not going to lie, I don't understand why you would want to change a bomber into a shuttle. I've seen a few ideas here in the forums and they just seems like a waist of points. But this is coming from a player who only won half his games last week in a tournament.
Here is a list:
Col. Vessery: Ion can - predator - title - hull
delta: title x2

Do you have a Star Wars branded tic-tac-toe? I sense a gap in the market...

my feeling is because the ordnance slots are a colossal waste right now on a bomber, and a cheap and relatively durable ship with access to buffing/debuffing crew is a really useful way to spend around 20 points.
i like the idea of Mara Jade and Intel Agent alongside two aces.

The poker aspect of X-Wing during the dial phase is what makes it awesome. The fact that you must commit to a move is wonderful. Will he do what I think he will do? Does he know what I will do next?... The tension, the feeling of insecurity, doubting yourself or going all in... this exact gaming moment is found nowhere else, and that's what makes this game the best one in my book.
If you want Star Wars poker, you need to check out the LCG. The edge battles can make you so tense that you start shaking. Well, I start shaking after a game of the LCG. There are so many more options in that game than in a lot of the other card games I've played. It has so much going for it. Everything you described about planning dials applies to the LCG as well. I highly recommend it!
As for earlier comments about Armada being better because of objectives, we have a plethora of missions for X-Wing that give you alternate win conditions and thematic play with the same basic rule set. Why not try those?
not sure why there's an Armada v X-wing debate going on, but let me put it to rest
there's no such thing as better, people have preferences
the only thing that could be conceived as "better" is that, as strategic games, Armada lays about the same at the feet of the players' decisions and far less at the mercy of dice

I don't like card games... except for poker, of course. They are too abstract for me, I prefer miniature gaming or other boardgame, but card game never did it for me. And I tried to like them, but nope, never found enjoyment in this kind of game. But anyway, with X-Wing, Armada, Imperial Assault and soon enough Rebellion, I don't think FFG will mind that I skip one of their Star Wars game.

I actually rank Gunboat above Avenger, but it's not a TIE. TIE Fighters and Bombers and Interceptors feel like real TIEs. Like you're on the frontline of the Empire's campaign for order. You're a professional soldier, doing your part. The Defender is this primo raider ship, concentrating so much power in a small, maneuverable package to hit and run and terrify the enemies of the Empire. The Avenger feels like a TIE X-wing. It's a top-tier front line fighter in a military that doesn't need top-tier front line fighters. For front line work, it's got the classics, for special operations it's got the Defender.
I did love those couple of TIE Fighter missions where you got the silly little retrofit TIE Fighter with a couple of Concussion Missiles. Those were cute.
I'm almost jealous that I'm not an Imperial player cause that Tie/D title upgrade is sexy as hell.

Commander Alozen is a lower PS than Colonel Vessery. With Alozen's ability getting him a Target Lock at the beginning of the Combat Phase you want the other pilot (Vessery) to fire first. That grants Vessery a Target Lock and leaves Alozen's Target Lock for him to use.
In addition:
The Shuttle has Push the Limit to Target Lock and Fleet Officer then uses Twin Ion Engine Mk II to relieve stress. Fleet Officer is passing out Focus tokens so Alozen and Vessery get's them for free. If the TIE Shuttle target locks a different target than Alozen then Vessery has two places to get free locks in case someone is out of arc. That means the Defender and Advanced both get free Target Locks and Focus tokens. Vessery can us Marksmanship to fire twice (double tap) and Alozen can Evade to use Juke but offensively and the Evade defensively.
The Shuttle has Mara Jade to pass out stress to any enemy ship that is too close. I was thinking of Weapons Engineer but I thought that was over kill on the Target Locks. I also considered Engine Upgrade for repositioning but with PTL clearing the stress is more important.
Finally I have 99 points for an initiative bid. Having initiative allows me to move first and fire first. I like moving first not to get blocked with this group and firing first is always good.
Is this any good? What are my vulnerabilities?
Thank you for any help,
Twilight Imperium 3rd ed. is the best product FFG has ever produced.
