Defender Titles - Is This Enough?

Tell that to the Squadron Leaders of WW1 and 2, for instance.

Yes...I'll tell that to the pilots who didn't possess the technology to communicate with their command ships...

You think they only le(a)d in the air?

Or that squadrons are always based on ships?

To stay on target, Wedge hated all the paperwork that came with the job. From maintenance requisitioning to duty rosters.

Mission orders are delivered by superiors, but squad leaders command their squads in combat. That's… kinda why they're called squad leaders.

In reality, yes. Star Wars isn't.

Star Wars space combat was based on WW2

so much so that we have sounds in space

anyway, we had Garven in a new hope direct his squad with the aid of the peeps down on Alderan

in ROTJ, we had various squad leaders (most of them get blown up) and Lando communicating with good ole akbar

Yeah, I remember that time in WW2 when that kid accidentally flew his plane inside an aircraft carrier and then accidentally hit the engine with a rocket.

Star Wars is an action/adventure sci-fi franchise. It runs on tropes. One of those tropes is Authority Equals Asskicking.

is that from episode 1?

the prequels sucked ass and will never be what we're discussing unless we're discussing something prequel specific or something horrible

I'm discussing Star Wars. The prequels are still Star Wars no matter how much you hate them.

you're discussing the prequels and we're not wasting time with semantics in that regard

the two sets of trilogies are wildly distinguishable and only one of them has a coherent feel to it

anyway, I'll let this do the rest

Good find. I was fortunate enough to have a film teacher that had us watch Star Wars and the movies that inspired Star Wars back to back. Lucas was, by his own admission, "inspired" by earlier movies like The Dam Busters and Hidden Fortress. Its a miracle Lucas hasn't been sued into oblivion for all his "inspirations", and I'm saying that as a life-long Star Wars fan.

Rexler Brath — TIE Defender 37

Push the Limit 3

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1

TIE/x7 -2

Ship Total: 39

Colonel Vessery — TIE Defender 35

Ruthlessness 3

Ion Cannon 3

Stealth Device 3

TIE/D 0

Ship Total: 44

Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16

Long-Range Scanners 0

Ship Total: 16

Came up with this last night a variation in DD, bomber cruises around the edge TLing for vessery late game can potentially close in to Finnish something, rex hits first clearing defence tokens then vessery ions the weaker target and can do up to six damage with ruthlessness.

It's a shame one cannot put both title and long range scanners on Tie/B. Scimitar with Weapons Engineer locking two targets per turn for Vessery to choose, would be fun.

TIE/B is wrong. Its the TIE/sa.
