The HLC Defender always felt like a horrid point sink to me. I'm already paying for a 3R primary, why pay 7 points for what is essentially the inquisitor's ability?

Brath is honestly the only Defender pilot I've used it on, but I DO like it in him.

A -2 squad cost, loss of cannon/missile, and an evade on a 3, 4, or 5 maneuver. That white K-turn is going to be that much more dangerous, but no help for those 1 and 2 red turns...

This is a fix that many of us HAVE been talking about. The new tractor beam and the ion cannon will be very nice fits on Defenders now.

It is a Charrdan refit on Steroids and a BTL-A4 title without any drawbacks. The only thing though is I think the x7 will be used more than the D because of the point reduction. The biggest weakness for the Defender is the 30 point cost, not the dial much to say.

I look at the D as a 2 point upgrade that gives you a cannon slot you can fire in addition to your primary. Better deal than the Scyk for sure.

Pretty much this. Rex + Predator + Ion Cannon + /D title is 43 points before defensive upgrades. If a control shot starts hitting, he can rush into range 1 and get a 4 dice primary + the control shot. Brutal against low AGI stuff, token sapping against high AGI stuff that can't afford the ion token. The IC can also just be good for dropping a shield to make it easier to activate Rex's ability. He's going to be mean with this setup.

I see it the other way. I think having the ability to use the Ion cannon or Tractor Beam every round AND your main weapon will just be too good to pass up.

This, along with the white K turn, will help the Defender perform at a 31 to 33 point level.

I'll wait for the new pilots before I ss judgement, but these abilities do nothing for a predictable dial and not enough for the cost. 28 for a base model is still too much, and they still need the twin-ion to have any hope of clearing stress.

If anything, both titles are "screw stress" upgrades for the Defenders. x7 gives you defense even while stressed, and D (especially with Predator) keeps damage quite strong with no actions.

That's funny, I see a couple white turns on the defender. And a white k-turn! Wow!

There's some mod that gives TIEs green banks as well...and wow the defender has six of those!

And I just heard about a couple of titles for the defender, and one of em gives a free evade when it uses those white 3 speed turns and that 4k! And now there's gonna be a mid PS EPT Defender generic? It's almost like FFG is trying to tell us something....

I'm not seeing anything take up the Modification slot though, so with the engines that gives them 10 green, 3 white and 4 red manoeuvres. Obviously the red ones will hurt, but I think they have enough going on elsewhere to take that.

Rexler Bath with HLC and Predator hits pretty hard even without actions

It's not ideal, but he'll still rip up low PS stuff that are the typical stress dealers because he can get behind regardless of stress and still deliver solid damage.
