What do you think the odds are of Maarek keeping the same ability, along with Deathrain? I don't have a magnifying glass with me.

Maarek says:

His old ability was:

Whe n your attack deals a faceup

Damag e card to the defender, instead

dra w 3 Damage cards, choose

1 to deal and discard the others.

It's the same ability.

The Mangler is also 4 points, so your Maarek combo won't work.

****! That means he sucks!

It was going to be such a beautiful combo!

Maarek's ability is useless without the Mangler, and the Mangler doesn't work with the Defender's awesome new Title! Wtf!

We don't know how much he costs yet. And he should have an EPT, so calculation is still an option.

Looks like cross-faction pilots like boba get different abilities while pilots in the same faction keep it (Hera, Stele).

Vader in an Eta-2 seems like an excellent possibility now. Good to see Maarek in a ship he actually flew!

What about the covered Tie Bomber? IS that Deathrain? If we are going by that, he would have the same ability right?

Tie/D Allows you to have 3 PS1 Defenders with an Ion Cannon and one with a tracer, Focus with all and Shoot a Tracer at target you want Ioned, Ion and shoot at range 3-2, Hopefully Ion your opponent and scratch their shields, K-turn jump behind them and Ion + Shoot again and walk them to destruction.

I mean, it's what I dreamed of doing since I saw the PS-1 defender and now I can do it!

And then! Then you have the Tie Shuttle. Now my friends, you might be thinking "Why do I want this silly thing?"

At 18 points you can have a Tactician bomber. Add that to a Bomber with Ion Pulse missiles and you now have a 21 point stress/ion at range 2! OR a really cheap but squishy holder of Kallus and Rebel Captive at 20 points (I've been playing Kallus with my imperial lists, he's a god-send against stress tactics)

The Long Range Scanners is interesting...

I think the only way to read that is you can get a TL on a ship anywhere on the table, same as the ST-321 title.

I think Arc dodgers be like "Great I know which one to get out of the way". The TL ship will fly off aka Biggs maneuver (although it should be called Wedge maneuver since he left the trench) while the other ones close in at range 1-2 and laugh. Soontir and Vader is going to love this as in love shooting these things down.

Maarek might actually see some use out of the TIE/D title actually. If you give him a Tractor Beam and Marksmanship, he's effectively firing the Tractor Beam with focus, reducing their agility by 1, then firing his primary with a super-focus that gives him a crit if he rolls any eyeballs. It's just a pity that this uses up his EPT...

I have to say though... I think that this is a killer pack for both the bomber, but much more so for the Defender. I don't know if I see anything there that would actually make me buy it.

If you are a defender or bomber fan, it's a no brainer, but I don't really consider myself either of those.

That said it's interested that it's Imperial Veterans... So we'll likely have a Rebel Veterans pack at some point. That means it went from Aces to Veterans, so the next pack will be Imperial/Rebels Normal-guys, followed up with Imperial/Rebels scrubs. ;)

What is fascinating is that it doesn't really help the current builds of Rexlar and Vessery. I mean, giving up HLC on those guys is going to be a very tough decision. Though, the other options are interesting.

isn't it wonderful? they find ever new ways to balance things (like tie/d) without going overboard on the already good ones?

man, I'm gonna miss the days being the only guy (there..) who brings defenders *rubbing his nose, elitist style* but I'll enjoy the new ones very much all the same :)

though.. budget-rex/vess with a free evade will be nice, too.

Shuttle title removes the missile/torpedo slots. Still, Tactician is an option.

I anyone else the most excited about the door being opened to eventually see Corran Horn flying a T-65?

TIE Shuttle: It's even better than I predicted with two crew slots; a hardcoded points cap is a slightly rough but reasonable way to keep the Emperor off (After all, he doesn't get crammed into the TIE/taxi, he takes a Shuttle!). Got 18 points spare? Now you can shove a tactician in your squad just for the giggles.

Mara Jade in a small, cheap ship should cause chaos.

Fleet Officer on Jonus will let him buff his buddies alpha strikes to degrees that are obscene.

And I haven't even found a use for the second crew slot yet :D

A 19pt, three-shot Vader? ... Probably not the best deal, but hilarious to give a little anti-soontir tech to a point-strapped list. Probably not, though. ;)

It would have been awful. tactician is powerful enough as is!

Long Range Scanners will be a big improvement for a lot of different ships. You can use it on a Y-wing, as well. That way you can get your TL early and still have a Focus for the shot. Same with anything that has ordnance, really. Works great on ships that are low PS so they can get the TL early.

For those that say that the target ship can just stay at distance....that's OK as you can just concentrate on the other ships.

THIS! This was the card that made me laugh out loud for joy when I read it ... then pee my pants when I saw it's FREE!

This is what's needed to get generic Bombers/Punishers into the ordnance game.

The problem I'm having with LRS is that it makes you even more reliant on the alpha strike. Once the enemy gets within range 2, you're going to have some serious problems acquiring any more target locks to continue the fight. It's still a valid strategy, don't get me wrong, but it's a little too much towards putting all the eggs in one basket for my tastes.

I'm just disappointed because it means I still don't get to use the Emperor. Because I only fly TIEs.

worth pointing out that the ship only needs to have the ordnance slots, it doesn't actually have to take ordnance.
