Imperial Veterans Expansion

By Engine25, in X-Wing

My question is:

Why isn't Turr Phenir one of the Defender pilots?

They're already reprinting Maarek Stele and we needed at least one new pilot ability. So we get Countess Riad. Also Maarek, if I'm not mistaken, didn't fly a TIE Advanced in the Lore, but Turr Phennir flew several ships including the interceptor.

Maarek flew basically everything in TIE Fighter, and if Skippy the Jedi Astromech is in the lore, the story of that game definitely counts.

Don't make fun of Skippy! Or his midichlorian-enriched fluids!

Well Glaive Squadron will most likely be packing an EPT and cost 33/34 (latter more likely) points. So 2 VI x7's would cost what? 64/66 points?

Spending one point on Vessery's ability is worth it though. Wonder how well Vessery and two Glaves, all with VI, will perform.

Christ that's terrifying . Three PS8 x7 Defenders? One of which gets free TLs? Absolute madness. I love it.

Now imagine if all those 3 Defenders had Crackshot instead, that's even better!

If the Glaives are 33 points each, you could fit 3 Defender/X7 pilots with Juke. Only one of them gets the TIE Mk. II.

If they are 34 points each there is no reason to run them (that's just what I think, okay!). That would curb my enthusiasm for running triple Defender lists, so I wouldn't need to buy 2 copies of Imperial Veterans.

You would be better off Running Vessery with Tractor Beam and 1 Delta Squadron pilot with Ion Cannon along with 31 points of a cheaper but reliable ace like Vader for target locks.

So I had a brainstorm, based on that tale of the guy who took Fell and a 65 point bid to Worlds...

Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

Rexler Brath (37)
Lone Wolf (2)
Stealth Device (3)
TIE/x7 (-2)

Total: 75

The idea is that there's nothing vulnerable in the list. You play as cautiusly as possible, kill something, and run out the clock.

Stuff that doesn't care about your green dice is going to be a challenge. I beat a 3 Interceptor list with 2 Punishers and Omega Leader last night, I lost all my shields and Deathrain was 1 hull away from death, but I took them all out without any fatalities. Everyone came home.

Yeah, Omega Leader will cause serious problems with that list. Another, of course, is stress control. If a Stresshog hits Soontir you're in trouble, and if it hits Rexler then he's out of actions for the immediate future since he doesn't have TIE MK. II. Sure, he can still drop in Evade tokens with TIE/x7, but that still limits his move options seriously.

TIE Mk. II and Juke are just so nice on Defender/x7 pilots.
