What scares me most is that I've already preordered a pair of these and we've no idea when it's coming! And I truly can't wait. I want to have a Defender and Bomber strike flight just to see if it can work. Did I mention that I CAN'T WAIT!
Imperial Veterans Expansion
Whale gamers will buy anything without caution. The last thing I need is FFG to 40k the game, and this is one of the few things keeping me interested in this franchise.
I've been thinking of buying Veterans and buying a Defender expansion, or getting a full/mixed bomber squadron.
Unfortunately I'm greener then the green weenie and don't know if a Bomber squadron is worth it, even if they're one of my favorite craft.

They're absolutely worth it. They're already fine as vanilla generic craft but when Veterans drops they'll be in an even stronger standing. Guidance Chips and Extra Munitions in tandem, as well, are going to help the Bomber quite a bit.

Eh, people equate longer threads with popularity, not more threads. Because generally speaking, all but one or two threads end up falling away eventually anyway.

I was planning a K wing eventually for connor net, I guess more extra muns wouldn't hurt, but I'm not sold on a tap for chips, or buying three bombers+vets.

The Jumpmaster 5000 will also come with two Guidance Chip cards! Still not ideal I know but they're definitely going to help the Bombers.
Sorry about Necroing the thread. I am drooling already and will get it; not too interested in the striped bomber, would like to trade it away for the red Defender. Since my fleet now is 50% Defender and not enough Defenders, there's never "too much" Defenders.

Sorry about the no bomber love from me, I just couldn't get my head around missiles and bombs; I'm pretty sure with the crew expansion and all the modifications, the Tie Bombers will be even more fun to play. I think I'm more towards vanilla dog-fighting, hence I'm more pumped about the Defenders.

You should really try the Tie bomber w/ shuttle and Mara Jade. I've found it to be a REALLY good 3rd ship to go with rexler and vessery especially: another TLer for Vessery.
For 19 points its some seriously mean stress control and bump. Worth its points.

Why have two tractor beams? I would suggest giving Brath the X7 title, also eject M.J and the shuttle title to give the Scimitar concussion missiles with extra munitions. But this is coming from a fella who doesn't like the shuttle title.

Imo, its really worth the 19 points. And people like doo-dads on their Defenders.
Personally, I go with the cheap options.
I have to say with the tractor beam coming, I'm loving the idea of a low PS squad of 3 Ties, 1 Defender or Shuttle with Tractor Beam and a Bomber loaded up with ordnance.

Personally, I'd stick Fleet Officer in the shuttle over Mara Jade. Her inability to stress people who are already stressed makes her relatively low-return for her points, and feeding Rexler extra focus is niiiiice.

From experience, Fleet Officer is excellent in the Bomber Shuttle with a Defender (mine was Vessery with TIE/D and Tractor beam, and Redline), Mara Jade is almost ignorable; the people you really want to stress out have stress already and are unaffected, anyone else you just limit movement which makes them a little more predictable, but not much.
I'd prefer a Tactician over Mara Jade in basically any application I could see her being used.

If you are going to be using TAP's then I have to believe a tractor beam would be better than an ion cannon. It would allow their two dice attacks to get through.

I'm hoping to goodness the unrevealed generics are going to be 18 points with an EPT slot. THen you can do Vessery with TIE/D, Tractor Beam, Crack Shot, and 3x Baron of Genericity, with title and Juke...

Why the ion cannon and not the tractor beam? WIth that many shots hitting you'll get a LOT more mileage out of the tractor beam. Also, Crack Shot on Vess; getting him up to PS8 is a lot less important than forcing that critically important hit through.

Ion for damage and control (Vessery has always liked being able to ionise, K-Turn, and then walk someone off the board; TIE/D makes that even better). Plus the other three ships can take advantage of an ionised ship as well, potentially moreso than TBeam (although not necessarily).
Also VI is there because when he lands the Tracers, the TAPs get TLs which triggers their titles so they also get Evades. The sooner they get Evades the more likely they are to survive that first round and get off the missiles. Any unfired ordnance is a blow against a list, so that's a priority. It also gives Vess an edge against non-VI Brobots by default, which will go a long way in helping with that matchup.
