Questions about mechanics of ACM and Crit Effects

By CenterPoint, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

so i want to start this off by pointing out that this is not a redirect question :)

so here's the situation

im shooting at the right side of an assault frigate that has no relevant defensive upgrades or tokens, and has the following shields

front 1, right side 2, rear 0

assume i have Assault concussion missiles, and i am in black range.

i roll the following

Black hit crit. Blue hit, Red:,blank, blank, blank

i use the crit to trigger the ACM

defender takes one damage off the front and takes it on the shield, Does the defender suffer 1 face down card for the damage that would be done to the rear hull zone?

also even though i used the crit effect to trigger ACMs i still count the black die as doing 2 total damage correct?

Best i can tell from the card, it does 1 damage to each adjacent hull zone. if the adjacent hull zone does not have a shield it must take the damage as a card - correct?

also all damage cards dealt to the defender would be face down because i have activated my critical effect - correct?

just trying to armchair quarterback a match i had a bit ago.

You've got it right.

Yes - I think you are on the right track. To give more detail to the explanation - you will sum up your damage. According to what you have listed in the scenario above, you have rolled 3 damage (one of which is a critical). If the defender is not using any defensive tokens, with you triggering the critical effect of the ACMs, you would assign 2 damage to the right shield, and one damage card face down to the ship for the initial roll. Then, you would assign one damage to the remaining shield on one of the front and one face down damage card to the rear zone.

Because you triggered the missiles - you are not able to trigger a face up damage since you can only resolve one crit effect. So yes - you were correct in your assumption. Sorry for detailing the answer - but just in case you wanted all of the details around it - I thought I would chime in

you would assign 2 damage to the right shield, and one damage card face down to the ship for the initial roll. Then, you would assign one damage to the remaining shield on one of the front and one face down damage card to the rear zone.

Critical effect happen befor you suffer the normal damage from the attack, so it would be in the reverse order.

This.

Critical effect first, then total damage (brace happens here), then assign damage (redirect happens here).

ACMs are great.
