Widow Tarha Heroic Feat

By lolwuter, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Well guys, we're got stucked with one serious question. Widow Tarha used her heroic feat and attacked both Splig and goblin archer.

After that Splig passed "Not Me" ability and give the damage to the goblin who has been already targeted by Tarha.

So the question is "does that pitty goblin suffers only one attack or both"?

For me that situation is similar to fire breath, where one sourse of attack cannot hurt the same figure twice. I'ld like to hear your opinions.

P.S.: sorry for my bad english btw, it's not my native

EDIT: I rushed to a wrong answer. See next post.

Widow Tarha's ability affects multiple figures, but it actually doesn't target any . The goblin archer isn't targeted twice by the attack, he's only targeted once (if Splig succeeds.) Therefore, he must only face the attack once.

But according to

https://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Descent_Second_Edition_Unofficial_FAQ

goblin will suffer 2 same attacks. Look the knight ability "defend" - he'll suffers both attacks from flail of merriod.

While I usually agree with Zaltyre, I think he may be wrong here.

First, clear at the end of the text for the heroic feat, it says "Both monsters are considered targets of your attack"

Then there is an official ruling on board game geeks for almost the exact same situation except it for monsters attacking heroes. I would apply the exact same logic here and say the goblin archer is smacked 2x and most likely dies a very painful death.

From BGG

Q: When monster uses skills like "Flail," "Leap," which target number of heroes, one of which is Knight, can Knight use "Defend"? What will the effect be? The figure cannot be attacked by the same attack twice, so does it cancel out one of targets?

A: Yes, the Knight may use "Defend" against attacks that target multiple heroes. This is a fine distinction of nomenclature between "targeting" and "targeted by". Technically, the (let's say Merriod) Merriod is targeting 2 different heroes, one of which is the Knight. The Knight uses "Defend" to declare himself the target of the other attack as well, so both attacks affect him, and he rolls his defense dice once for each attack.

When I reread the ability I saw "affects" and stopped reading. It will function just like the Knight "Defend" situation. My bad.
