Tournament later today, opinions on lists

By EbongHawk, in X-Wing

Trying to decide between:

Vader

ATC

Engine upgrade

X1

Predator

X3 tempest w/ac and title

Or

X2 blue squadron

Fire control system

X2 golf squadron

Tlt

R2 astromech

I expect to see tlts and fast turrets. A lot of the guys in this will be fairly new.

Go for the Advanceds and teach them the true meaning of Power.

That, and it rewards proper flying.

If you expect to see aces and end up deciding on the advanced list then I'd seriously consider putting VI on Vader, or otherwise find a way to get a PS bid in there (dropping the engine?). Then again if you're confident in your blocking skills then 3 PS2 advanced should be plenty and you could take the list as is. On the other hand, if you decide on the rebel list then I'd bump two ships to PS4 to try to get something off the table quickly. It won't prevent a TLT Y-Wing from shooting on the first round (assuming PS2 Y-Wings), but it might make a difference in later turns if you can get kill shots with your PS4s.

Edit: I also support Hondo's suggestion to use R3-A2 in the rebel list.

As to which list to pick, I'd pick the one I had more experience with and/or enjoy flying more.

On the first list, I'd give the old man VI. This also gives you a 2-point initiative bid.

Second list just needs R3-A2.

IF there's going to be lots of fast EU Wave-5 PWT-lists

take the TLTs and teach them to respect the small ships.

Thanks for the replies guys. I took the second list. It was a smaller event than I expected but I had the toughest schedule and went 3-0 502 MoV. Only lost two ships in the closest match. 1st round was kind of a breeze the guy was just too new. The second one was against the manager at the store and he and I got into the game together about 2 years ago when he was working at a store where I live (drove almost 2hrs to play at his store because he is a killer dude) and he got two of my ships. Last round was against the guy I've played the most, he has been in the game about a year and half and so many of our local tournaments come down to us. This was also his last one before moving way out of the area to Ohio so it was kind of cool for it to be us again. I remember the lists they ran if anyone is interested in the match ups. Thanks again and I will definitely look at throwing stress bot into the mix.
