Guy has a serious problem with thrill seeking and has a tendency to succumb to wanderlust. Background he was a small time planetary pilot for a transporting cargo(legally) but has flown through space as a co-pilot once delivering stuff. He was bored with the status quo so he had the brilliant idea to be a full-time pilot for a bounty hunter group. Hes not meant to be a bounty hunter right away because his job his to be a competent pilot, no more no less. Any who, should he be Ace class and be a bit more specialized or Smuggler class and have easy access to gunslinger for self defense later (regardless ill pick the pilot option in the respective class tree). Character Concept/Build Help
The thrill seeking element screams Hot Shot (Ace) to me.
Either are great, what do you want to play?
Ace: Full time pilot and mechanic, lives to go fast.
Smuggler: A jack of all trades, social, pilot, sneaky... But most of all is Gambler, if you want a risk taker then there's a lot there to be had.
If you don't want to dedicate a ton of talents to piloting you might consider the Explorer: Fringer. It has a small but nice selection of piloting talents, and has other abilities that could round out a want to be troublemaker.

sounds way more like a Driver to me... So maybe Ace:Driver, moving into Pilot either through the Ace or the Scoundrel Career, based on where you want to go down the line.
Take Ace, you can take ranged light as a career skill.
And I second driver, it's got more versatility than pilot with most the goodies.
What specs do you like the most? Honestly based on his background and use of piloting it doesn't sound like he was trained or expected to do anything all that thrilling, so he could be any spec imo with Piloting tacked on.
Make him a Gambler, gambler need not be taken so literally, as in sitting at a table placing bets on games of chance, it can include gambling with your own life and fate.
