Intro game with Wave 2...

By AlexW, in Star Wars: Armada

New to the game and played once in Wave 1 and that's largely because the game didn't feel complete but that's changed with Wave 2. Now, I'm looking for some thoughts on what might be a good intro level game with the currently available models.

Would you use the two small ships from each faction or pull one medium and one small, probably with a small fighter escort and no upgrades.

Any other thoughts?

Go with the following on each side:

VSD, GSD, Raider

AFII, MC30c, CR90

Season to taste with fighter cover / upgrades. Each gives you the feeling of the three main types of ships for each side - the Star Destroyer, the Brawler, and the Flanker for the Imperials, and the Broadsider, the Brawler, and the Flanker for the rebels.

I don't think the AFmk2 should be used in an intro game if the newer player is playing imperials.

I appreciate the comment, but could you clarify?

They're a little harder to handle than "go shoot at it" since you need to think a few turns ahead and worry about setting up arcs, something that only comes with experience. Little too far up the difficulty curve for a newb.
