MC-80 model size is a bit underwhelming

I think it looks like a big poop. I'm tempted to paint it brown. I rather like the look of the liberty class.

EEEWWW, but yeah, I like the Liberty class myself. I feel it gets underrepresented in games.

This is also my plan. With yellow dots as corn, orange dots for carrot and a brown-black fade to represent the consumption of half a pack of Oreos.

I wish they had done the Liberty class MC80s. Those things have personality... the space pickle... not so much.

I agree Liberty is a pretty nice design (wings) but the Liberty is a lot smaller than Home One.

Medium size.

Home One is 1200m long per the old Database, which was the canon source of sizes. The 1600+ m value has always been debatable.

I am just whelmed by it's size.

Now that's a use of the word you don't see every day.

(clap)

I am just whelmed by it's size.

I am using my one, yearly, guilt-free internet pedantry pass to point out whelmed actually means almost exactly the same thing as overwhelmed.

Lets throw some math logic into the frey.

FGG's model of the Lambda class shuttle is about 7,5 cm long (counting the pertruding trailing edge of the top wing at the rear) and 7 cm tall.

Canon says it 20 metres long. 20 meters divided by 7,5 cm = 266 (which makes it close to the claimed 1/270 scale)

7 cm multipled by 266 = 18,62 meters.

This means that the hangerbay doors on the MC80 is at least 18,62 meters in height.

FFG's model of the MC80 is 184 mm long. and the hangbay doors is 2 mm tall.

So 18,62 divided by 2 = 9,31 that equals to 1mm

184 multiplied by 9,31 = 1713,04.

So the math tells you clearly that a Mon Cal Home One type cruiser should at least be 1713,04 meters long

and that someone in Lucas arts ( or some other office) has failed their math exam :P

Personally I prefer to say that the Hanger bay doors are 20 meters tall, to give some free space for the Lambda shuttle to exit the hanger, without trading paint with the MC80 hangerbay doors.

This means 1mm equals 10 meters which again mean that the Mon Cal cruiser is 1840 meters long making it a 1/10000 scale

FFG's ISD is roughly 20cm long and is in the canon 1600 meters long which makes it a 1/8000 scale

^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Even though that I would myself prefer a larger MC80 model, I imagine that the models represented on the table, is zoomed in views of the ships on a tactical holograph table map, where each ship and squadron is magnified differently, to make them stand out clearly to a practical size. ;)

Imperial military doctrin in programming tactical holograph table maps, stipulates that all large enemy capital ships should be represented in a smaller size to their own large capital ships, to help boost Imperial Captains ego and their overbloated confidence in themselves. :P :P :P

I'm going to hold you to this so hard.

Underwhelming, a little. But at least it is painted better than the gladiators. I just got my third and they still at doing a terrible job. Ceste la vie

I swear half the comments on this thread just make me want to respond with:

I agree, it seems to small. For the size they've made it it should be on a medium base - it certainly doesn't seem any bigger than an AFmkII.

in a lot of ways it is seems smaller than the af2 imo

Seriously, "phrasing" is no longer a thing?

That's what she said....

That is okay I have a 36" long model of the Executor I am finishing right now..........so the MC-80

would make a great hood ornament for it on the front. Kind of like a set of horns on a Cadillac.

Will go great with the little sign I am going to put on the rear of the executor.............Switching to ludicrous speed....oh my god everything has turned plaid. With a little quote......"WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY"
