MC-80 model size is a bit underwhelming

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

So my ISD and MC-80 showed up today. Maybe I am the only person that feels this way but I feel like the model is small. Am I alone or does anyone else feel like it should have been fatter, and longer.

IDK the ISD is really impressive next to the MC80.

Well the MC80 is smaller than an ISD. It was only Home One which was bigger.

It would have been better if it were at least as long as an ISD. That way the Rebels have a suitably impressive capital ship too.

I think it should of been fatten up abit. If you look at the newest new for armada from ffg you see the mc80 makes the VSD look tiny

Old perfectly sized to me.

ISD a supposed to be the imposing one!

Yay for new ships! :D

I think I agree with DWRR. While I originally thought the MC-80 could have used a little... more... of something, I love how the ISD is clearly the top dog.

Scale-wise isn't that right? Aren't ISDs a lot bigger?

The only thing I'm not crazy about on the mc80 is the paint design. It's too "confetti" for my taste. The ones folks are posting with custom pain jobs look awesome.

It's truly underwhelming when you try and fit a viable one in a 400 pt list.....

I borrowed someone's MC80 today... I think it's ok. It's not as impressive as the Star Destroyer but I think it's adequate.

I want to give mine a nice silver finish. I'm ready to point and laugh at the first person who tries a Macross Zentradei color scheme on theirs, for turning into a space pickle.

The Rebels weren't supposed to have the big, imposing ships. The MC80 was a cruise liner that sprouted turbolaser pods where the industrial-sized space-margarita mixers used to be. I am a bit annoyed that any Imp list outdoes mine in sheer volume but it makes sense fluff-wise.

It becomes more apparent once you look at the cards. The MC80 ship cards and titles make it seem like the ship was bursting at the seams. Despite the huge ship base, the model feels medium-sized.

it's the AFII that makes it look small. I have no idea if they are like that in the lore but the AFII being so much more bulbous is slightly off to me

This MUST happen!

Bulbous is fine, but they do seem larger than they should be in total volume.

Best I can do on the "real" comparison between the AFII & MC80 - note that there are several other Star Cruisers there, and Home One is HUGE.

At least the box it came in was big. If it wasn't then I might not have brought one.

I now live in my ISD's box.

It looks too flat to me. Even compared to the image on the box it looks too flat. I had assumed the ship was more bulbous than what was delivered.

The model we have is not really Home One as that bad boy is massive

Sigh. I thought wee were supposed to get the Home One.

I agree that it would have been cool to have it a bit bigger - but the problem with its design is that bigger means much much longer, for relatively little girth. To make it significantly bigger, it would render its own base meaningless.

But that's how it goes. We got the Home One model in a Mon Cal Star Cruiser size, it should run pretty close to 1600 meters in length - that's what the ISD is, so they should be pretty close.

I'm sure someone will make a larger MC80 on shapeways some day :)

But this is not the generic MC80 expansion pack. This is the "Home one" Expansion pack. Your red circle should be down a little bit on this chart :)

Alright, alright, it is the Home One expansion pack. Looking closer, the shape matches up best with all the little rokkits on the Home One.

Still, in order for them to make it bigger, they needed to make it longer and it's already the Space Pickle so I think they had to compromise. Harrumph.
