Elusiveness and ezra

By Ralgon, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi guys, just wondering if a nested action guru could clarify

If the ept gets attached to ezra it reads

When defending you may recieve 1 stress to choose 1 attack die. Attacker must reroll that die. If stressed you cant use this ability.

Erza is When defending, if you are stressed, you may change 2 eyballs to evades.

If you use the ept for the reroll does the stress token count for the ability on your green dice?

There's no nest or timing conflict there at all. If Ezra is unstressed at the start of the attack, he can use Elusiveness in the Modifying Attack dice step which will give him stress for his ability in the Modify Defense Dice step.

Makes ezra one tanky mofo for sure!!!

Would make him very annoying to hit but cuts down his dial a lot in effect compared to PTL as Kanan can't really help out. Having the dial open really helps Ezras mobility. He cares less about taking red moves than most others but that's less the case with Elusiveness.

Unless you give him Hera crew instead. Doesn't work as well with the stress mechanics as he does with PTL and Kanan though.

To expand on Parravon's answer...

The order of the Combat Phase shows where everything resolves.

1. Declare Target
2. Attacker Rolls Attack Dice

3. Modify Attack Dice

  • Defender Modifies Attack Dice <Elusiveness triggers here - When defending, you may receive 1 stress token to choose 1 attack die. The attacker must reroll that die.>
  • Attacker Modifies Attack Dice

4. Defender Rolls Defense Dice

5. Modify Defense Dice

  • Attacker Modifies Defense Dice
  • Defender Modifies Defense Dice <Ezra Pilot ability triggers here - When defending, if you are stressed, you may change 2 of your <focus> results to <evade> results.>

6. Compare Results

7. Deal Damage

Given a turret is mandatory i figured kanan/ptl was too expensive. Elusiveness still ensures full dial use and the ability as soon as ezra gets shot at.

For extra tanky shenanigans run ez ptl/kanan + zeb/lando + a rengen xwing and watch somebody cry over poor dice

With Elusiveness your sat on a stress from the combat phase though so your dial is not open unless you have Hera allowing the red moves while stressed.

You get the stress too late for Wingman and too late for Kanan which is where Hera would come in. Hera + Elusiveness takes Ezra to 23pts before putting on a turret, Kanan and PTL is 26pts. Not a huge difference but PTL Ezra has better action economy and ends the turn stress free so is less predictable without sacrificing actions. unless needing to sacrifice some points for the rest of e list I'd prefer the 26pt version. Elusiveness could be a good budget option though.

I'm not sure a turret is actually mandatory seeing as you have a 3atk primary.

Edit.. And I've just realised we are in the rules section, apologies for taking the thread away from that.
