SV list to match against Palpmodile Vader Soontir

By Cliffkump, in X-Wing

Hi everyone. I've been playing for about 3 months. I don't land on too many rocks, but wanted to let you know experience/skill is a factor. Palpmodile, Vadir, Soontir are heavily represented in the North Florida Meta and have been in the last 3 tournaments I attended. I need a list that has a chance against this, and won't get rolled by 4tlt ywings or BBBBZ.

So far I've tried Latz, the greater arc of the YV666 means he often has shots. And his pilot ability helps if I could get anyone else with a shot. His shots alone are never enough to bust through on Soontir. Palob, with a tlt is often the only other ship with a shot. However, both aces can go from out of range to donut whole, seemingly at will. And Palob often gets focused fired down early because of his good ability and weak health.

I'm thinking of trying a VI Talonbane Cobra with EU and Glitterstim, but don't think he'll be enough by himself.

OK, Help!!!!!!!!!!

Another tournament this weekend where I'm sure to see this. I've come close twice. Once I had Vader and Soontir both down to 1 and another with just Soontir left.

Crackstim Brobots with HLC and FCS will work quite nicely.

Crackstim Brobots with HLC and FCS will work quite nicely.

I tried that list the other day. My flying was sub-par and I still won. I feel like the list won the game instead of me winning the game. I even squandered my Glitterstim, misjudging which enemies would have me in arc (only one did), and it still didn't matter.

EDIT: Also, if you're talking about a list to fight against Palp+Vader+Fel, Feedback Array Z-95s will do a decent job. Palpatine can't protect Fel from those. Even Vader can be taken down in one round if you can catch him in your net. Then its just a matter of hunting the shuttle.

I'm going to push my Favorite SV build: 2x Blacksun Enforcer + AT and Kath. This gives you 8 points to play with on Kath.

Either go for this one if you want to curbstomp the freaky action-spammers

Or try the good old tested-out Brobots. PTL+Adv sensors worked wonders for me.

Slow advance with manglers\HLKs blazing. their dice WILL go rogue in the opening salvo, I can guarantee that. Nothing beats the raw firepower of a preusdoGunner-Mangler

Thanks for all the great ideas! I'll let you know how it goes this weekend.

Use Emon Azzameen. You get to chuck a bomb in Soontir's face before he even moves. Dodge that!

Mux (TLT, bossk)

Thug (TLT,r4) x 2

22 points of something

according to the local palp + ace player, this build (or what he remembered of it) just steamrolled his squad

full mods w/TLT are disgustingly accurate, and Mux just forces aces to pop before they can contribute

I do like the R4-B11. Surprised we don't see it more often.

for just 1 point more, why not Palob over Mux?

I was thinking Palob with TLT, Crackshot Glitterstim PS 5 Kirahxz, and two TLT Y-Wings.

More of an anti-Poe thing considering how every single rebel squad I face has him, but maybe? Soontir or Vader without a focus seems somewhat precarious. Once you strip the focus try and throw damage on the enemy ace.

But yeah, Bossk is a great card.

I beat it with:
IG-88 B & C

-Predator

-Adv. Sensors

-Ion cannon

-Title

-Autothrusters

Its important to note that Palpatine can modify mines rolls.

palpmodile?

If I knew I was going into a Palp heavy tournament, and expected to meet it, I'd probably tweak my current favoured S&V squad to this. Granted, it's an untested variant of what I have tested and tailored to my personal play style, so keep that in mind.

Torkil nerfs whoever is the greatest threat, and in the most arcs, down to PS 0. Serissu fires probably first. Kavil fires, hopefully out of primary arc to get that extra die. Imperials return fire. Torkil fires, again hopefully positioned to Ion/Stress the target. I'd use the IT on Mux, just to try to slow down the movement shenanigans of Soontir or Vader.

Torkil Mux — HWK-290 19
Ion Cannon Turret 5
Tactician 2
Ship Total: 26

Kavil — Y-Wing 24
Veteran Instincts 1
Twin Laser Turret 6
Unhinged Astromech 1
Ship Total: 32

Serissu — M3-A Interceptor 20
Veteran Instincts 1
"Mangler" Cannon 4
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) 2
Ship Total: 27

Black Sun Soldier — Z-95 Headhunter 13
Inertial Dampeners 1
Ship Total: 14

Total: 99

palpmodile?

Some variant of a Lambda Shuttle with the Emperor crew, and then Vader and Soontir as escorts. It can be a slippery high-PS list to fight against, especially with Palp modifying the one choice roll each turn to cause extra problems.

I faced this in the final round of the local Tournament. I ended up squeaking out a win. Mostly due to a major error on his part that cost him an undamaged Fel. (He forgot about Fel's stress trying pull a K-turn and I had him do a 5 forward off the board). Which left a 1 hull Remaining Vader and Palpmobile facing an untouched Poe.

My List was 99 points.

Poe - T70
R2-D2

Auto-Thrusters

Veteran Instincts

Miranda - Kwing

Tactician
TLT

Rebel Agent - Hwk
Tactician

TLT
