Is a dedicated Lothal/ Rebels expansion becoming more possible now?

By Agis, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I am thinking about this because of the Ghost Expansion Pack for X-Wing.

We have some really cool artwork that could be easily reused in IA!

I know it has been discussed earlier, but isn't now more possible?

The artwork makes them look more human in proportion, so perfect for a IA sculpt!

I for one would love it!

I wouldn't mind it, I enjoy the show quite alot, and it might be really cool for families who can have one person be the imperial and the rest the team of rebels.

Im sure they will get to Imperial Assault but im not a fan of the art there. Ezra has this weird face and dumb smile like Dash on x-wing promo card. Hera and Sabine faces have very "soft' and girly fetures on series and here they look like men

At the rate New unique characters are added it would take at least 3 expansions for all the main characters to be released.

Can't wait for tarkin.

Careful guys. There are some here who would burn you at the stake just for bringing that idea to the forum.

Well I'd say those people need to accept that Rebels is a thing, and many people enjoy it a lot. And those characters and locations would be awesome to have in Imperial Assault.

This is the issue; I very much doubt they plan on releasing 6 unique rebel allies corresponding to one box expansion (and that doesn't include Ashoka). It makes me think that they wont do a full Lothal campaign, probably a skirmish map or two and a similar number of side missions set there while they'll stagger the specters over a number of boxes (and possibly put Hera and Chopper in one pack).

I could see a full core box set expansion with some more simplified rules for younger players where each person plays one of the spectres.

Hah he's talking about the people who are trolling people for wanting a main character from the OC in another thread. There's a large group of people that just like to rain on others parades.

I'd love to see the Rebels characters.

It's most likely that they would do a Return to Hoth style expansion with 2-3 new heroes then sell villain/ally packs of these characters..

I mean with Twin Shadows we got one new baddie and Boba, R2 and 3P0.

I'd love to see the crew of the Ghost come out, maybe as three two packs ala 3P0/R2.

Yeah they kind of look like GI Joes, and Ezra really reminds me of Farquaad from Shrek (minus 2 decades).

??? I honestly do not unterstand you. Even after reading the above...

Is it because some SW fans only want to see stuff from Ep. I - VI?

Please explain.

LOL, well we seem to have different ideas about how man look. ;)

But I have to agree about Ezra - but isn't he always looking strange?

Sometimes. But hes super weird in this art.

I'd really like an adaption of either Rebels, the OT movies or some new EU stuff into expansions.

BUT when we interviewed paul 6 months ago, the sentiment was that they will try to stick to self-crafted stories and also towards missions that are not heavily "cinematic". They want the players to invent the story ... which is a noble goal. It just doesn't resonate with me as much as playing a better directed story.

That being said, similar things have been said in interviews with the devs of the LotR LCG and that game saw the release of saga expansions (for the hobbit and now for the lotr books) at the end of the 2nd year.

I wouldn't count on anything like Rebels or OT expansions coming out before the end of 2016, if at all.

Its worse than that.

Better than explain I point you to the topic about having (yay or nay) Emperor Palpatine as a IA figure where at least one player recognizes that the day FFG start pouring Rebels into IA is the day it stops bying IA stuff...

I like Rebels, but I would actually promote changing some of the art from the series to make it more 'realistic'. Specifically Aladdin Ezra.

I am not a fan of most of the artwork in Imperial Assault. I think it's pretty crappy--- just being honest.

I would totally use Chopper in every game. Every. Game.

This. Everything about IA so far has been to create new stories with new heroes. If the Rebels got in, they would come in as allies, not heroes - and it would be insane to have all six of them in a single mission. With each one being pretty powerful in their own right, you probably couldn't even put two in a mission together (other than Chopper) as allies. So that leaves you with at minimum 5 missions, which is over the established standard (by Twin Shadows) of four missions for a mini-box.

The Rebels are popular, but not popular enough to carry a big box expansion in my opinion. I would buy the big box of the Rebels in a heartbeat, but then again I have five kids and we've seen season 1 twice and love it. My wife probably loves SW Rebels the most out of all of us!

This is similar to how the LOTR LCG started, they used heroes from Lore but tried to stay away from the movies and actual cannon. Eventually they gave in and put out saga boxes that told the movie stores I could see this happening in IA but a ways down the road.

I do think it's likely that we'll see Rebels are ally characters though, probably not all 6 in one mission but thats ok.

I think the biggest hurdle of all is the timeline. With X-Wing the timeline isn't really all that important because it's not a story-driven game at its heart. IA is.

I don't think the timeline is a problem at all; that's why they have time periods.
