Significant Rebel (including capitol ship) engaged near Death Star. Raider deployed in response.

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Last night, at around 7PM at Around the Table's Team Epic event in Lynnwood, our spies located a Rebel battlegroup near the Death Star map. Darth Vader personally led a small counterforce from aboard the Imperial Raider-class starship Instigator, with the Emperor Palpatine himself observing the combat from aboard his personal shuttle. Due to the presence of such high-profile Imperial leaders, our counterforce included some of our best pilots: Soontir Fel, Carnor Jax, "Howlrunner" (to serve as a Decoy for the Raider), Colonel Vessary, Maarek Stele, and two of our select Storm Squadron pilots.

The Rebels were led by the Corellian Corvette identified as Dodanna's Pride. The corvette was backed by the notorious smugglers Chewbacca and Leebo (see attached criminal records), as well as Esege Tuketu in a K-Wing. A pair of ion turreted Y-Wings and three members of the Blue Squadron B-Wing assault force rounded out the battle.

Because the Rebels took the initiative early, we were able to deploy our Raider so that it was angled straight at the broadside of the CR-90. While this exposed us to fire from both batteries, it also allowed us to fire at will at whichever section would be most beneficial.

The losses came quickly. Combined firepower from Carnor Jax, Howlrunner and the Raider quickly destroyed one B-Wing, but they were able to severely injure him in the return exchange. His fighter was destroyed shortly after, but we were able to recover him in time and he is currently resting in a bacta tank.

Both Storm Squadron pilots were KIA, but not before deploying their payload of an Advanced Homing Missile and an Ion Pulse Missile. Stele and Vessary formed a particularly brutal team, with Vessary's veteran instincts allowing him to devastate the aft shields of the CR90, allowing Stele to use his skill with an Advanced Targeting Computer to create a spectacular Structural Collapse.

The second Storm Squadron Pilot even managed to cause significant damage to the fore section of the Pride in his death, as he was able to overcome severe ionization from the two Y-Wings to put his ship into the CR-90's Secondary Drive. The critical failure of that system meant that the enemy capitol ship would need to expend extra energy to perform the most routine actions.

Vessary also saw his Defender destroyed by the combined fire of Esage, the CR90 and both Y-Wings. However, he still managed to do significant destruction to the enemy vessal, ultimately helping cripple the ship and enabling Stele to finish it off with no survivors. We are greatly pleased with his efforts.

Soontir Fel took a solid early hit that Stunned him, but still managed to do significant damage to the Rebel droid pilot known as Leebo, ultimately inflicting the Outrider with both a Thrust Control Fire and a Damaged Engine, making it easy prey for the Instigator to finish off. There is simply no excuse for the usage of droid pilots after what we learned of their incompetance during the Clone Wars. However, Soontir was sadly shot from behind by the coward Chewbacca, and is currently in critical condition after surgery. We have increased the reward on the Wookiee's pelt by another 10,000 credits for this treachery.

Ultimately, the Rebel squadron clearly knew they were outmatched. Tuketu foolishly tried to do a suicide run and ended up crashing into the fore section of our Raider, where he was quickly taken into custody. The two B-Wings then swept in behind the Raider and, despite heavy damage and laser fire from Howlrunner, succeeded in crippling its aft section to evade pursuit before they, the Y-Wings and the surviving Millenium Falcon jumped into hyperspace to end the engagement. While Lord Vader was assigned to that section, he was found stable thanks to his enhanced protective suit.

Despite the minor numerical loss (255 to 222 according to current scoring standards), our numerical superiority makes such losses more significant to the Rebel scum then they would be for our forces. We our confident that our interrogation of the captured Tuketu will yield valuable information about the location of the hidden Rebel base.

The most important part of the battle was that many, many things blew up. This pleased the Emperor, who happily threw a laser lightning dance party for the crew in celebration.
