Battle Report - Armada at the Attic!

By RazelKorr, in Star Wars: Armada

Yesterday we finally got our local scene going, and following two solid games we set up the basics for our league.

Politics, politics, politics! Let's get to the Turbolasers.

The first match was between C & R, with C playing a Riekaan Rebel Fleet against a Screed list headed by R.

C swept in to try and ram the Victories, but R managed to slide the far ship right in the way of everyone.

ith the Imperial bringing up the rear, Home One got vaporized. C seceded at that point.

The second round was between Myself and G, who flew a Dodonna Fleet against my Rhymer Fireball Survey.

My list is straightforward - an ISD with two Raiders and a Fireball. The ISD is decked to the nines, while the Raiders have OrdExp/RapidReload. The initial Deployment sees the left side heavily favored, so I save the second Raider [At that point rechristened 'Waldorf'] to deploy out to the side in an aim to soften up whatever is left on turn 5-6. Also, yes, the other one is 'Statler'.

Statler shot off to engage the Corvette, While the ISD casually strolled along, waiting for them to come in range. A first-turn Squad command shot the Rhymerball onto the closest asteroid, which staged them for the ships to come. IG-88 shot after Luke Skywalker, while Rhymer pumped up the jam. The Shrimp tried to Flank the ISD, but I managed to weather it in stride while wilting his shields away.

First shot for the Raider against the corvette is literally perfect. Seven Damage with the Concentrate Fire sent the Corvette running. Unfortunately, Statler was on a collision course for the Nebs, even if we almost-but-not-quite'd the whole game.

Statler was doomed, but acceptable losses meant that he slowed them right into the ISD.

The front Neb survived with next to no shields and cheekily sidled up to the starboard arc, right before taking a broadside into its not-so-broad side and crumpling like a moist sausage bun. The second caught eight dice to the face, which compounded with the hurt the Firesprays were unleashing to let them join each other in the beyond.

The remaining Shrimp and Corvette jumped to Hyperspace on Turn 5.

There were some shenanigans with Waldorf and an X-Wing learning the value of Ordnance Experts and two black anti-squad, but otherwise his last turn was cut off.

It is nice to finally see some Imperial victories, and see that Snackbar isn't the proclaimed doom of the Imperial Navy.

First shot for the Raider against the corvette is literally perfect.

Not quite. Had that blue die been an accuracy, you could have hit his redirect & killed the CR90 in one shot (6 black = 2 shields + 4 hull).

Speaking from experience as the commander of that poor, poor, CR90.

Then again, the snackbar was closed for this match.

This sadly is true! I was overwhelmed with the Rapid Reload earning its keep.

The positioning on that MC80 is.... so painful.

It definitely suffered for it. I don't think C had much practical experience with it. I don't mean that as a bad thing, just that he acknowledged the 'speculative' nature of his fleet.

that rebel positioning is horrible. how did he even manage to turn the side and butt of his Neb like that. Lol. even my friends who dont know how the game works can tell that one of those ships looks freaking backwards. sorry.

If I remember correctly he tried to swoop by the ISD and would up taking himself off the map.

Let's just say, I'm glad you're the one reading this and not him.

....

There's so much that needs to be fixed about that sentence.

Sorry. I know, this is probably really rude. I just don't know how to say it any nicer.

So I was going to post a summary of this week's match, but two things stopped me.

A: I did not take nearly enough pictures.

B: The match can be summed up with one of the pictures I DID take:

Apparently saving it as a GIF sends it to the 90's first.

Anyway, it was my first game with Superior Positions. Six victory tokens later and the final bit of damage is actually the Raider waiting off screen to poke him in the tailpipe.
