Has anyone tried running a 4 x 4 without the officers? Just run 4x Royal Guards and nothing else.

That would only be 32 points used, which is kinda silly to under utilized the available points by so much. At least throw two probes in there or something of 8 point value. You'd still have the attack and defence power that 4x4 is known for, but your movements would be limited and you'd be harder pressed to get your guys in range of objectives or opponents in turn 1, and probably most you action would happen in turn 2 after getting picked on by ranged units.

You could try 2x RG and 2x Elite RG....

I think the point is that the OP wants to know if RG are good enough that they could contend with 40 point lists at 32 points. Not sure if i see the point.

They can compete with 40 points lists ...

And that is how over powered and insane they are.
