Ffg treats armada as the red head kid

So you're saying all FFG games are red-headed? Pretty impressive for a recessive gene.
I think most of the naysayers are looking at Imperial Assault. That game is just as young and has considerably more releases and support. I know I'm a little miffed that we still don't have rules, FAQ, or tournament guide updates for a wave that had considerable production delays. However, FFG is still clearly paying attention to the development of the game. It may feel slower than other products, but I'm willing to forgive that considering how well designed the game is as a whole.
Imperial Assault is also extremely broken as far as competitive balance goes and needs the releases to better flesh it out and balance it. Armada is very well balanced. Although my inner child wants more plastic spaceships and wants them now the adult in me understands that it takes a while to plan, design and test to ensure they do not break the game.
I wonder if the mini's for Imperial assault are easier for them to produce.

Probably. From all the mod threads, it looks like there is some significant construction involved.
Really it seems like crickets from ffg since late sept when the massing event toom place.
And with wave 2 hitting the shelf figure3they would address some rule questions that have pop up or give hints at new tactics.
But crickets. While players have taken to 3rd party 3d printers to produce almost every ship from the clone wars on
Edited by mobow213I don't think FFG is actively neglecting Armada and even if it does, it makes business sense to cater first to the one that makes them more money.
Even with that, I'm not complaining. The more money FFG makes from X-Wing, the more likely they will continue churning out stuff for Armada and other product lines.
Disney's episode 7 demands on X-wing put a hurting on Armada, but that was temporary. It won't get the love X-wing does while X-wing accounts for something like 1/3 or 1/2 of FFG's entire sales.
This thread just makes me sad. ![]()
yeah better to not spoil a new wave until a month or two after the current one is out and being played
Sorry I have to disagree. Armada is a fleet game. Fleets have less diversity amongst ships. So you have less waves.
I know nothing about Scum so they may add a fleet which should be nothing competitive to the Empire. Or maybe add the alien fleets to really throw a screwball into the works.
But what do you really expect?
Are people seriously comparing the release schedule of IA to Armada? Do you think the minis paint themselves? ![]()
Everything is fine with Armada. These aren't the debbie downers you're looking for. Move along. Move along.
I'm hoping for a handful of ships to come out and be done. I like the long breaks because I can buy other stuff. The kid in me wants new ships. The adult is pretty excited to throw some money at other games.
Maybe you guys who got sullust ships. Me? Wave2 is funnn. And it will be all the way through to 2016 for sure. After that, I might want some hints of wav3.
Theyre treating us pretty well.
No complaints here. Loving the game.
The release schedule is ridiculously lazy, but I wouldn't call this the black sheep of FFG games. Of course, nothing (well, money does) stops you and your gaming group from using the awesome ships from mel_miniatures to make your force more diverse.
I'm happy with the pace of releases and am able to get my daily fix of Armada info by coming onto these forums. I am sorry you feel like you're not getting enough, but I've only played eight or so games with all my Wave 2 stuff so I'm still riding that high.
ADD is rampant these days... older chill dudes like us know to just enjoy EVERYTHING about our toys and have fun. Companies do not make things on our schedule, but theirs.

Imperial Assault is also un-painted, the releases are smaller in size, and based on a known game system instead of (as far as I can tell) invented just for us.
It's also a bit of a mess in terms of competitive balance for the skirmish mode.
There is balance?
I love armada for its balance. It is why I enjoy my games, because in the end, it comes down to game play more so than what faction you bring (another reason I don't like IA and X-Wing)

I LOVE me some MARDA (now that I finally got the damned wonderful thing), and X-WING too. I agree that X-WING has jumped the shark... about three months ago by my reckoning. It IS a CCG with Models. Now of course you do not have to play it like that... but all this meta-viable-math-stuff is not the way to think. Yes you need to know how the goodies work, and understand what can and cannot be done with each ship. BUT... the real REAL deal DEAL is all about how good you are at strategy, and solid implementation of it, with the tools you have on the table. Dat **** math ain't gonna win the games for you... YOU are going to win the game, or give it away in your own stupidity.
Dats all...

Wave II hit 2 weeks ago. It took FFG nearly 2 months to release X-wing's Wave VII FAQ.
Nothing to see here, folks!

Three cheers for stupidity!
It's a gorram super-power!
And I am mighty with it!
