Ffg treats armada as the red head kid

By mobow213, in Star Wars: Armada

Is it me or does FFG treat armada like the read headed step kid.

Just seems there very litt news coming out and what does come out is wave 2 hits the shelf news or championship. But nothing about the future and goals or plans. No asking the player base what we would like to see.

Some folks think we get wave 3 that tired into the new movie. I doubt that as the announced it by now and i douby wave three will come out before summer.

No asking the player base what we would like to see.

I think hell will freeze over before FFG do this for any of their games...

I think that will change as Armada grows. Right now X-Wing is so huge that they have to devote a lot to it. I personally foresee a bright future for Armada and Imperial Assault.

I don't think so at all. I do think that they could've communicated a little better about Wave 2, but other than that the only real issue is production problems that have pretty much been plaguing all their minis.

I'm happy with the pace of releases and am able to get my daily fix of Armada info by coming onto these forums. I am sorry you feel like you're not getting enough, but I've only played eight or so games with all my Wave 2 stuff so I'm still riding that high.

As someone who played X-Wing from the very beginning, I can say that FFG is treating Armada exactly the same. For both products, there is a general deluge of articles near the release of a wave. Between waves there is relative silence. Once Wave 8 releases for X-Wing, it will seem quiet for that game for quite awhile.

The general drawback of Armada being pre-painted will be the long-ish lag time between waves. Don't panic or despair. X-Wing followed this same pattern and is one of the most popular, best selling mini games out there. FFG knows how to grow Armada based on that experience. Relax and enjoy the game.

I play a whole lot of FFG games with rolling release schedules, and I do not feel like Armada is treated any differently than any of those.

Wasn't Wave 2 just released?

As primarily an x-wing player, I'd be glad for it to slow down a bit and wish they'd let us us enjoy the current ships longer before spoiling the next wave. Wave 8 was spoiled before Wave 7 was released and it made the newest wave seem old right away.

Another one of these threads? Wave 2 is fantastic, scrambles the whole meta, lots of new strategies, 400 points means we have to rethink our whole list-building strategy. Go play with the new toys FFG just put a lot of effort into.

Some folks will never be satisfied.

I would actually prefer for armada to have a slower release schedule than x-wing. Armada is a much bigger, more complicated game and takes correspondingly longer to master. Having constant new stuff coming out would just swamp players with too much information to process.

Remember Armada has been on the self for a little over 7 months. Now we haven't heard of a new wave yet but that is more because FFG announced Wave 2 before the Core Box even hit the shelf as a little something to make players happy because of all the delays in the Core's releases.

Two waves which makes 3 releases in 7 mouths at the beginning of a game is actually very very good.

Aye, it's just the FFG way. I have often compared them to the Blizzard of tabletop games. They're the kings, they take their time, they do their best to get it right before shipping, they care about their product.

Wow. First we have people complaining that they don't want previews N months in advance, and now we have people complaining that there isn't enough news. I guess releasing Wave 2 wasn't enough. Sheesh.

Complaining is humanity's favorite pass-time bar none.

I'm not even joking.

Yes, as a pastime, I agree it is among humanity's favorites. It also seems especially prevalent on this board :D

The only thing I want to see is an updated FAQ / Tournament Rules.

Wave 3 can wait for the 18th or next year, or whatever. I'm still trying to learn what Wave 2 is truly capable of.

I think most of the naysayers are looking at Imperial Assault. That game is just as young and has considerably more releases and support. I know I'm a little miffed that we still don't have rules, FAQ, or tournament guide updates for a wave that had considerable production delays. However, FFG is still clearly paying attention to the development of the game. It may feel slower than other products, but I'm willing to forgive that considering how well designed the game is as a whole.

Imperial Assault is also un-painted, the releases are smaller in size, and based on a known game system instead of (as far as I can tell) invented just for us.

Yeah, FFG has an easier time with Imperial Assault because they just had to fine tune Descent as opposed to create a new system whole cloth.

X-wing gets more articles than Armada as well, but that's because Armada doesn't have huge ships (yet). Well, there was also the announcement of the deluxe bases and dials, but Armada doesn't need those yet (Also, deluxe bases would be harder for Armada because there are three base sizes instead of two as well as more variation in stand types).

Well, there's also the Episode VII stuff, but X-wing is the only one of FFG's star wars games old enough to handle the introduction of a new era- Armada, IA, and the LCG will probably be ready after their currently announced stuff is released, but at the time Force Awakens products were in development, those systems were too busy fleshing out the classic trilogy stuff.

I play it too! No game left behind!

It's also a bit of a mess in terms of competitive balance for the skirmish mode.

I just checked.... the sky is definitely falling.

The rapture is nigh. Repent!

Imperial Assault is also extremely broken as far as competitive balance goes and needs the releases to better flesh it out and balance it. Armada is very well balanced. Although my inner child wants more plastic spaceships and wants them now the adult in me understands that it takes a while to plan, design and test to ensure they do not break the game.
