Ghost part 2 article up!

By imprezagoatee, in X-Wing

I do love how they had to highlight the base underneath the Ghost's model. It's going to look lovely next to the Epic ships.

Sabine Crew and Dorsal Turret just made one of my bomber lists about 100x better :)

Warden with Sabine, Connor, Extra Munitions, Advanced Slam

Gold with Dorsal, R3A2, BTL

Blue

Replaced the 5pt Ion Cannon Turret with the 3pt Dorsal and 2pt Sabine Crew. 2 damage Connor nets are even more terrifying for Aces.

I figured you would love how she enables super bombers. Conner Nets can now do 2 damage. Or if they are really unlucky with Cluster mines, hit one, get the damage, then hit a second token next turn. Theoretically, over 3 turns, you can have your single Cluster Mine do +3 damage. Hell, she can add damage to an Ion Bomb. Too bad we didn't get Thermal Detonators.

Are we 100% sure about this? Sabine's card says "Bomb Tokens". Technically, Conner Nets, Cluster Mines and Proximity Mines are Mines, not bombs - they are dropped in a different phase, as actions, and detonated on contact with the token rather than when you fly Range 1 of a token.

Seismic Charges, Proton Bombs and Ion Bombs for sure, but the others?

in this games mines and bombs are treated the same

are they..? I think not.

If they weren't treated the same then...

Genius' wording wouldn't need to say "that can be dropped when you reveal a maneuver"

The FAQ wouldn't list them all under "Bombs"

The Rules Reference wouldn't list them all under "Bombs"

Both cards that say "mine" and "bomb"- as well as conner nets -are all bombs in the sense of the rules.

more simply, they're all bombs

the Action: bombs simply have "mine" in their name, apart from Conner Net

there is no actual "mine" upgrade, we just call them that to distinguish between the bombs that drop after revealing a maneuver, and the bombs that drop via action

Edit- did not read carefully enough.

So, Ezra on Keyan to first turn an eye into a kaboom and then turn the rest of the eyes into booms.

Very excited about this expansion! It really brings Rebels to the game. I am sad that Chopper was not offered as an Astromech card though.

Future expansion man. Astromech version of Chopper. Title that gives the Phantom an Astromech slot. Plus crew cards for Rex and Ahsoka. And hopefully a generic Attack Shuttle pilot while they're at it.

The only thing I think I don't like about this pack is the character art. Sabine and Hera both look like dudes and Ezra looks like a dork wearing the same crappy smile as the alt art Dash, I'm assuming because they have the same artist.

And I know they didn't have a ton of realism to start with on these designs, and on a technical level the art has merit, but they just don't look good, sorry. :/

Whoever is doing the ship art though, they're holding their own. And the mechanics are interesting so Woot.

Where to best put Sabine?

Yeah, we still don't have a preview of the PS3 Ghost, in addition to Thermal Detonators.

So, I'm curious, where exactly are we going to find the Rule about firing torpedoes out the rear arc of the Ghost?

I'm going to assume one of those extra rule cards, explaining the symbol appearing on the ship's aux firing arc.

Yeah, we still don't have a preview of the PS3 Ghost, in addition to Thermal Detonators.

I don't think you'll get them either. Not really an entire preview there.

We never did end up getting Adv. Homing Missiles in a preview...

either Ghost or K-wing, at a glance

Aye, anything with a Torpedo slot so you can Extra Munitions her seems like the best usage.

You could throw her on a B-Wing, with some EM? Pricey, but fun. Add some Y's with bomb loadouts for some more direct damage.

Time things right and you could take out an arc-dodger before combat even.

Totally predicting thermal detonator is a bomb you can explode at will.

And here I am just waiting for them to reveal how overcosted the TIE Adv Prototype is (stupid ******* name, Vader flew the prototype), like the rest of the recent imperial craft.

What a BS expansion. It's like a middle finger towards Imperial and Scum players.

The salt is strong with this one.

Boo-freaking-hoo. Sorry that there are expansions made for other factions that are any good. Sorry that the game doesnt cater to you and your factions only. Did you maybe consider the fact that Rebel players probably said that same, exact thing when the Phantom came out? Get over yourself.

Totally predicting thermal detonator is a bomb you can explode at will.

That feels a little busted to just entirely close off that section off the board.

Deleted because I'm an idiot.

Edit: but apparently not fast enough.

Not an issue if you play all factions. Makes the game 3x as fun.

So do we figure the ps3 will be 35 points?

Yeah, we still don't have a preview of the PS3 Ghost, in addition to Thermal Detonators.

Come on guys, enough with the thermal detonators. They're obviously just tokens for the included scenario that nobody plays.

Um no. There is a card and a template with "nubs"

Well, I'll give them this: dividing the preview in 2 parts was totally justified.

Lots of new candies and toys... now bring me my scum preview next, pretty please :)

if only we had other bombs that stuck around to deny sections of the board... :P

Re: torpedoes and the special firing arc, probably in the rulebook that comes with each large-base ship.

Yes, we probably won't get previews of those two cards and they'll be surprises for when the ship releases, which is fine.
