The scum ships are stupid easy/fun to paint aren't they?
(wish the ****ing assault frigate was that easy.)
right? detail feels a lot easier on these than on all those TIES (sob)
this is the real reason Rhymerball is so popular, firesprays are easy to paint, and you only need to churn out three TIE bombers.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive.
I've had a very bad week for miniature painting but I finished Tie Gamma Squadron on Friday. (Talk about rapid painting, mine is like lightening a snail)

All the current Ties together...

Ah! But actually I haven't been completely idle for the entirety of last week. After modifying my first CR90, I couldn't keep my hands off the other one, so here it is..
As of yet unnamed and repainted. It is designed to have projection experts on board and possibly redundant shields...

One projector looks a bit out of alignment on that last picture >_<, I will rectify that.

I broke the original shield generator thing when I was removing it from its previous location, I had to make a new one...
I've some interceptors ready primed but I'll apint them later after I do some of the RandV.
EDIT. I'll post some more pictures later on my repaints page.
Edited by ViperousI'm a glutton for interesting kitbashes - I might need to grab another CR90 to experiment, myself ![]()
So after completing my first GSD Insidious with a grey/light blue color scheme I was eager to try Demolisher to complete my GSD pair. I liked how the title card made it look like the ship had a slight orange glow to her so I decided to go with a grey/orange for her and hope it turned out well. I added a couple of drops of orange to my grey base coat and then added some darker lines to some of the panels. After a dark wash and some highlights I still wanted a little more of an orange glow so I added a ton of water to some orange and made an orange wash. 2 layers later I really like how it turned out. It's hard for my iphone to capture how it really looks in the light but it has the right amount of orange without looking weird. I'm going to try my 3 Raiders next and I'm thinking of doing a grey/purple paint scheme for them. I still need ideas on some kind of task force markings for all 5 ships but that will be last.

Quick Commission Job.
Terrible Picture.
6 TIE Fighters
2 TIE Bombers
2 TIE Advanced
1 TIE Interceptor
and
A Soontir Fel
A Bossk
A Boba Fett and
A Dengar.
No Partridges or bloody Pear Trees... ![]()

Dude these are both awesome! Good work!
I originally painted my neb-b's in US Navy light ghost gray, but I'm thinking the gray is too cool in hue and a bit light the longer I stare at them. And they're sort of reminding me of F-18's too much right now.
Can anyone recommend a good, screen-like neb-b/rebel gray? I'm looking for something a little warmer past neutral gray- I prefer using Vallejo but I'll consider other brands. I'm also looking to distinguish my reb's from my imps (all my imp ships are FS36622 light grey, slightly warm hue from sepia tinted weathering)
this is gonna sound harsh but I felt discouraged looking at your ties but then I saw the Y-wings and now I feel okay ![]()
Yeah you're another one of "those people" who paint their bases black...and having seen this method up close I must admit I'm tempted to join this club.
*throws it onto the massive "stuff I need to do pile."
Sheogorath, squadrons are one of those things that tends to improve pretty quick
I don't even wanna go back and look at my early squadrons or I know the siren song of simple green shall beckon me to those unforgiving shoals. Those Firespray patrol boats are great too. I was considering a few in black and white but that little red mark set's em off great.
Still love the Capital ship look Raider and the different GSD's are great, but still sorta wanting to get a good picture of those squadrons. They certainly look really stand-out from here!
"Shut up Dengar..." that got more than just a smirk from me Gottmituns. Jumpmaster is nice and clean. V-wings, eh? You have the talent to make 'em turn out great, so I'd be looking forward to it (I think I've seen one or two Republic coloured V-wings around, but even that's hazy). Fett's looking awful good too. I flop back and forth on the black bases thing more than might be evident, but the only 'requirement' for me is that the edges of the cardboard be painted. The flight stems themselves are a weird double edged sword. I just hate seeing flight pegs -sighs- if there was some super light grey or something that I could fake with an airbrush across the tops, I'd probably be using clear. They're also glorious for photographing models, but black/brown/blue stems tend to look better on the tabletop.
Looks pretty good Sbloom, aaaah Cote d'Arms, yeah I remember the consistency being quite fluid when they produced paint for GW, then they were switched out and the gloss coat became like applying jello. I can certainly understand large rounded sections being a pain. How does it thin? Most of the stuff I've used tends to bead with most thinners and brush strokes are just... eeuck. I do like the wear and striping on that Slave I too.
Not a worry MPG, mate. That Elysium is impressive. I don't think I've seen a straight grey and yellow combination yet. The patterning is almost eclectic with the lines conforming to a number of contours and not just being neat Tranquillity, nice, very nice. Hmmm, Well, the print Imperial Light Cruiser (Arquitens) are gorgeous. I just finished working on 3 and they were terrific fun to paint. If it's any consolation, I've broken, rebroken, then shattered one of my Assault Frigate pegs .
Viperous, interesting choice. The Red 'goalie mask' is pretty fun, you're not going to miss that on the table. It does hide the orange cannons a bit, I wonder if green would work (both are bright though so hard to tell. They work well in person? It's often an angle difference. Black stripes, interesting. Is it just on those flights or fleet wide? Love the mods. I just did some magnetics for the aft dish so there's some swappable components, but I never thought of doing the front turret. That's a genius build, love it.
Liking what I'm seeing BmcDonald, always nice to see some really strong and unique colourations on ships. Orange is pretty fascinating and I don't think I've seen one. For some reason I'm picturing something of a sun-hued desert ship, but that's just sort of me. I do like how that glow turned out, and surprised you managed to keep an orange paint together with only water as a wash. Very neat, and good call on the darker panel lines too. I wonder on the window colour a bit, but that's just how to make it stand out. I like it, and I'm interested on seeing the grey purple too. You're taunting us with that acrylic ruler though, admit it! Admit it!! Now I gotta figure out how to not do as badly as I did in the last tournament to get one.
Hmm Gorrt, not too shabby at all. A-wings are fine (there's not always a lot that can be done with them that isn't just a lot of brush painting. Flat things that they are) but Y-wings loooove to soak up washes, so you can get some really good definition in with them, add in a drybrush or edge highlight and they look golden.. um, no pun intended.
Wooo, window lights! Huzzah CheesyRobMan
Particularly love the ISD. so many lights-
Alright, now for one of an R&V set that I worked up for myself... I'm not creative, I can just fake it. Anyway, it's meant to be a stand in for the Falcon if need be so I didn't deviate much. Not nearly as interested as the red and white one I did up for a Guild fleet to match the red Assault Frigate.

And some Grey squadron Y-wings that were just too fun as part of a project I'm working up. -sighs- and now I want to repaint my Gold squadron.

I absolutely love that Falcon, and the engine is reaally cool looking - really brings it to life! Not such a load of garbage now eh Rey! ![]()
The Ys are pretty cool to, especially those exhausts-awesome!
The red mask looks fine in person, but I may switch the laser colours to green to see how they look. Thanks for the tip!
What black stripes???? You mean the top of the ties?
Edited by ViperousThe thing that sucks is that the best part of that is the engine's fade from blue to white but it just doesn't photograph well at all. Naturally, eh? Not sure about that one, the rest of the Falcon there looks like it's falling to pieces -laughs- As it should. I'm just a big Y-wing fan... sadly, table-top wise I can't get them to roll a hit on a capital ship to save my life, but they chew up enemy fighters better than X-wings.
Oh no worries, it's mostly about the 'in person' and often just perspective thing. Hard to tell how it might come out. Yep, I just meant the little black stripe egress hatch slat thingamajig.
Dude those y wings are sick.
I'm doing an Imperial Venator, imperial v wings, darth vaders eta 2, Skywalker and kenobis eta 2, and 3 imperial arc170s.
The deltas will be saved for a rainy day.

Thank you Vykes. I spent a lot of time looking at your Gladiator's and VSD's before I tried. I think they came out pretty good but not up to the quality of your panel work on your ships. The Orange really did turn out better than I thought it would and it just feels like a ship called Demolisher. The green acrylic ruler is nice but I can't brag about it as I was guaranteed getting it before even playing a game due to only 4 people showing up for the first Store Championship in our area. I did win the tournament but I can't brag.
Just WOW at that YT-1300 and your Y-Wings. Your squadron work is just on another level. I don't think I have steady enough hands to pull off the detail you do with those Y-Wing engines. Excellent work as always. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the other R&V ships as they are quite interesting and full of possibilities.
Edited by BMcDonald7I did a bunch of my squadron with sharpies last night. Afterward they were hit with a sepia ink wash, but otherwise 100% ultra fine tip sharpie.

"Bounty Hunters, who needs that scum?"
Actually Captain Piedt, I can say that I totally disagree with you
- not just because Star Wars bounty hunters are awesome, they are also an awesome addition to any Armada fleet. + they are very fun to paint with only 1 per squadron.
I love Boba Fett which is why I chose to do him over everyone else in the RandV pack. ![]()
I humbly apologize for the quality of my pictures in some cases.

Closeup view...

Rear view (I may inject some orange into the engines as I feel the actual exhaust colour isn't deep enough)

Fett under escort by Tie squads...

@ Vykes. Yes, those stripes on the Tie top will be set for all Ties.

theruleslawyer I love the A-wings with the yellow and black stripes! Might have to steal that idea if I ever defect... ![]()
Loving this. It's how I plan to paint mine as well + some wear and tear.
