'Tis true Gottmituns, I applaud any modification of the Assault Frigate II too, Man that is an ugly ship, sorry to hear the work on that AFII didn't work out quite right. Still looking forward to what you come up with -laughs- even if it's a Mk.I, eh?

Bases -ponders- I use a Krylon camo spray primer, then usually cheap matte craftstore black paint and a dullcoat after that with squadrons on squadron bases if I can, gets them both and I usually superglue squadrons in place anyway.

Love the more movie-esque Star Destroyer DUR. The regular model really doesn't feel like it gives a sense of scale, so painting it up with even just a few washes always feels right. But the variety of greys on there and use of a thinner, veeeery very nice. Big fan of streaky plates -laughs- Fifty Shades of Grey... yep, sounds Slaneeshi or Dark Eldar-esque to me too. I hard that Testors (or was it Testors and MIG) had a whitewash ink. I wonder it that would work for streaks- Thinned airbrush paints... yep, 'tis what I do now, just a dullcoat in the end and it allows for some pretty good transitions

I do like that Initiator Viperous, The sides look good too. Raiders are fun little ships to paint. Those TIEs are looking good too. Neat lines, good colours. The battle grous are really starting to come together, eh?

I think that Kath looks pretty good Sbloom, but that X-wing Kath is just frigging awesome! No doubt about that! How does gloss work on something this size? (I know some of the older TIES I do have a really glossy ink wash on the windows, but I haven't used them in quite a while and not on a flat surface..

Gortt, those TIES do look nice clean and even. It really is a good colour, what's the exact shade? That Vallejomodel colour light grey? I do spot one missing a horizontal strut... which is a shock because I suck at Where's Waldo Great work on 'em too. I know I hate doing those things.

The Call, Cynan? Neat teal and yellow, with dirty white, faaaatty alien... weird weird stormy helmet too. yeah, I'm an episode behind. -laughs- Do put those up here, eh? They're great but... did you hack a third of the wings off those TIE fighters? -blinks- I think I like them (and I certainly like the colour) but I'm so going to have to get used to it. Good job for something unique and that got me to take a step back. I'd seriously love to see those on a tabletop. Hazard stripes and aurubech on the GSD is great too.

I do like blue corvettes MPG. Rebels inspired, it's awesome how much their colour schemes have opened up what we normally see. Deeception, love the name nnd the ship looks good too. What are you thinking on for escortS? Mon Cals always looked grey in the films (I never saw much for the other patchy blue-greys because of the filters) So got a name for that Mc80 yet?

And I'll skirt my rule about no 3D prints (still behind spoilers though) because the ship no longer exists in this pattern. It's all gone, stripped and half back to normal, so now it's just a form of 'digital art'. Pixels on the web, never to exist in mortal form....

Vykes, great job with that Lambda, much better than I could have ever done.

I've never used metallics on a Star Wars ship, but I'm thinking of mixing a silver with a gunmetal grey to get the correct grey color I want. It'll be a learning curve, for sure!

I'll be sure to post some WIPs and the finished products when I get around to it, I'm in college right now, so there isn't a lot of time to work on them.

My god man...that Lambda is so shiney Its like a mirror at studio 54...what are those white lines again?

You know Iandagger, I think I've used metallics on just 9 TIEs and then dulled them down to the point where it was just gold and didn't matter anyway -laughs- but I've been wondering about mixing the colours too. I know that metallic paints lose their pigment and finish very quickly like that, but I can't help but wonder if a thinned metallic over top would restore some of that after it's been colour corrected.

Always good to see them. Aaah college eh? I finished university a few years back and had enough profs that wanted proofed work, so I really do understand (my primary history professor loved documentation: so for every footnote we had, we had to get a photocopy and highlight our sources along with their covers and documentation. My final paper was only 40-ish pages of text, but ended up at well over 300 pages due to those proofs.)

-laughs- I can't help but think how many tins of silver polish that Lambda's maintenance crew would have to go through Gottmituns. It does look like a mirror at Studio 54, doesn't it? All it needs is some really weird reflections and shapes in the horizon -laughs- Oh man, if that was an art print it would so be White Lines on a Lambda. That is gold, mate.

This is why no one should let me watch a show and paint at the same time. Sky-earth NMM on 3 axis doesn't work well, now I need another big relatively flat surface to try it on. Hmm, think Bosk would ever put chrome on his YV-666?

I did the jumpmaster during our new weekly gaming night, I was the odd man out...I needed to get it done...so wam..I took a chance and rolled with it.

I used a mix of Vallejo/GW colors...and I'm leaning towards using Vallejo more instead of GW for fighters...I can mix and match more easily.

Gonna do the Fett next for a friend, then move on to more Ties then the Rebel ships...then....Imperial V-wings.

I think honestly it's about finding your own style. Dropship was perfect for ties, but rebel ships I have my doubts.

Dengar was my way to test this out as it was with lighter colors.

I know the Finalizer isn't black in The Force Awakens (or at least it didn't look like it was), but I really like that black on white color scheme.

I feel like I can justify this to myself (headcanon-wise) that post-Endor a task force commander might have scarpered off with his ships, and surely black paint can't be that hard to come by

They/you could always accidentally mix in some white paint and you could get the ISD Sea Tiger/Petticoat!

Thank you! The gloss works really well I think. To clarify, it's Coat d'Arms gloss varnish which dries clear and is quite watery in consistency compared to a lot of varnishes. It's certainly nicer than using gloss paint. Here it is on the Slave 1 I did;

It's also easier to get a smooth coat with such a small area. The X-Wing Kath was a massive pain to gloss. I did mask the canopy on that with putty but it pulled some the factory varnish off- lots of coats with lots of strokes and slightly watered down varnish!

I'm a double post buffoon. First one. Ah well.

Thank you Vykes, glad to know you like them! For escorts on the SD I don't really have much choice between the 3 ships that are avalible, most likely I will make them Gladiators or Raiders + 1 Victory or I may settle for some custom Arquittens, we'll see. As for the MC-80 I have settled on the name Tranquility.

So I bought a Nebulon... Then I broke the peg (don't pay attention to the shoddy replacement job). I really love the way this one turned out.

I named her The Elysium and gave her a nice Yellow-Gray color scheme.

I'm placing her with my slowly growing (2 ship) Phoenix group fleet.
