Here are my recently painted 'Green Squadron', I will come up with a better name when I can kick my imagination into gear I'm sure

I love that green, I already wanted to buy a new CR and do green, please tell me what green that is...

A custom work in progress, couldn't wait anymore. For those of you up on your EU ships it is one of the more iconic IMO. Now I have to start highlighting and do the engines... <_<

Wes, can you do some side by side shots with an MC80?

Ya I can. It looks huge because the SD is low. I will do a side by side later tonight.

My repaints have started.

All ships are "wip"

The Liberty too please. I'm having trouble visualizing how those three look together.

Ty, I`m not sure where the Rebel-camo comes from. I just came out with the colours I own but I`m pretty sure some army has used it before me;)

There will be some stripes and markings to bring the ships back to the Star Wars universe.

The Hutt Disco Cruiser for recreation and dancing will get 2 more friends soon. I want to use them for a small proxy fleet ^_^

It`s a quick conversion of a jabba barge model an italian company (De Agostini) sold for a collectors edition, the scale is really good for Armada;).

Here is your side by side. Home One is just slightly longer then the MC80B Mon Remonda and MC80 Liberty

Sorry to keep on with the same model but I tried a little different idea with my engines this time. Walking through the craft store I saw these little guys in the bead section. I figured they look like they would make great angine flare especially since they pick up the light. So the results were really good. They pick up the light in the room and look pretty sharp.

love the gems they look cool

Very nice Sbloom, the dirty green look really does stick for rebels. But those purple X-wings and hatching, veeery nice.

Like Weirdo I've never been a fan of the Mon Remonda's overall shape, but the execution is great :) They're... an Mc80b, I think? Man there's a lot of MC80 types, then the Mc90 which is pretty cool (yet is based on Mc80 concept art if I'm not mistaken. So was the Mc30 right? So, yeah.) Still, the fighting tadpole/murder spade is unique so it's great to see. I'm really curious to see how the engine configuration turns out.

Blast from the Past: very cool. I still like the Imperial ensign on ships, and despite overspray ( maybe because of it) I really like how the whole ships come across. Very interesting Rebel camo too, tempting to see how a blue sky scheme would go over at some psuedo atmospheric force/gas giant garrison. I like it. But the pinnacle... the party barge. I have never been a fan of Jabba's sail barge, but in this scale, that size, it's like a pirate carnival line and I love it! There's something so grotesquely magnificent about that, which makes me just want to call it the sleeziest moving casino and leg-breaker outfit in the galaxy. I can just picture this greasy guy in a pinstripe suit under a neon Twilek silhouette saying “Welcome to Club Forty, where the party never schtops.” It's glorious. :) I really can't wait to see more.

Alright, I'll be the downer and put up some normalish pictures :P Actually, I can't remember if I did show the ISD or just the VSD, so I'll put up a pair of things. Part of a commission, and one I really enjoyed.

958 lights.... so... many.... lights....

both are before some markings, For some reason my upload wants to bring me pictures of a doughnut and coffee when I put up the 'squadron' marked ones, so I'll fix it later and replace these.

That MC90 and liberty are awesome! More pictures of the MC90 would be great because I really have no idea how they look from any angle but above.

Vykes, those are amazing! I wish my technique or patience was half as god as yours. It has been years since I painted anything, but Armada has rekindled the need to paint. There are so many talented people posting here, I have a high bar to meet!

Does anyone have an easy guide for painting rebel fighters? Dropship is my go to for tie-fighters was hoping someone had one for Rebel fighters.

I've found that an undercoat (spray painted on) followed by an accent colour with a wash is easy and provides a good look without much work see my B-Wings below

(though now that I've chosen to form sub groups for my Rebel fleet I'll need to redo a lot of accents)

Its Castellan Green, Loren Forest and Elysian Green, all Citadel paints :)

Vykes your window lighting on the ISD puts mine to shame. Gorgeous work!

I promise I'll post the final results, but first I have a question:

I recently got in a shipment of 3D printed minis, from Shapeways, using the Frosted Ultra Detail printing method. Before I paint them, is there anything I need to do for prep?

I know that cast models need to be scrubbed a bit to remove mold-release, but 3D printed models don't have a mold. Should I scrub them anyway?

Second question, as long as I've got you here. The minis are hollow. Should I try to fill them with resin, or foam or something, to reinforce the structure?

Thanks for any tips!

Generally speaking, they should be washed... Depending on the 3D Printing method, the laser sintering can leave a fine filament of dust that will interact very poorly with paint, so yes -> Wash them regardless...

And I probably wouldn't be bothered with filling them unless you touch them with a finger and they feel "squishy". They should be thick enough to take some handling... Trying to fill them will, probably, be more annoying than not...

OK, thanks for the advice.

I'm just worried about them cracking when I press them onto stands.

90% of the time with Plastics, if you're gentle and slow, but firm, you will feel any elastic point breaking issues before you reach them... Giving you an opportunity to let up the pressure beforehand...

As always, you've paid a premium for something that should always be considered fairly delicate... Respect it :D

I've popped a guide on my blog.

I just finish up my first three TIE's and was wondering should I seal them with something like Testors Dull coat to protect the paint? Typically for my other miniature games that I paint I usually do one coat of gloss and then 2 coats of dull to protect the paint job.

If you're done, definitely... Whatever is your preferred sealant, do it...

For me, its two Coats of Purity Seal (Since, being an Ex-GW Employee, I have years of experience in knowing how to not make that really-easy-to-screw-up stuff not screw up...)

Fighters will be handled 20,000% more than a Capital Ship.
