I really, really, REALLY dislike flying with Twin Laser Turrets

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

I saw it and ordered 3 from the same painter

and an FO punisher

they've just finished and I'm giddy

next: FO Tie Fighters (oh boy won't that be confusing as ****? Looking forward to it!)

Flyin' TLT be like:

That-Was-Easy-Button.png

I lost last week in a tournament against the 4 TLT y-Wings.

At the time to show the opponent your list I showed mine (38- Point Poe with two Daggers, also loaded with tactician, ion cannon etc).

My opponent simply said "My list is only move and throw dice".

At that time I thought ¿is this game all about this?

Also I had the worst attack rolls I´ve ever had (for example, first attack with poe at range 1 with focus, 4 blanks), I got so angry that I forgot to use FCS etc..

Finally the TLT list won also the next list against a Corran/Dash List and won the tournament.

Sincerely, I would have sacrificed a lot of goats to make any other list to win the tournament

Please note I wasn't saying TLTs are easy mode or overpowered; just that they're incredibly, mind-numbingly dull.

I'd rather fly Autoblaster Turrets on Y-Wings, or even Blaster Turrets (I know, I know)

Then don't play them. Not everything is going to appeal to every player.

That's the general idea, Sithborg!

Overpowered no but I'd certainly say they are easy mode, on a scum y-wing doing three speed greens they can cover alot of ground making them very tough to block and not every ship can boost into the doughnut.

yeah. they ARE boring. so boring, I couldn't bear it to fly 4Y-tlts -once-. had to spice it up (-1y, +1 torkil for funses and devilish laughter), and it was still too boring.

still, I like the tlt for what it gives us:

the death of 2 ship lists. or at least they are pushed back quite a bit. the game is so much more open for ANY list, and that's because of tlts in big parts.

doesn't mean that we should play it - because it's quite boring to a lot of us. but we can have fun again with weird lists, and the tlts out there will keep hans, the frenchguy etc in check.

so goodbye fatties and thanks for all the fish. thank you tlts, even if you're no fun at any party ;)

well, I already gave my solution to TLT related boredom

personally, I can't stand naked TLT Y-wings because I find any ship that can't boost/roll to be snore inducing on its own and I would never fly a list that couldn't boost/roll/slam with at least one important ship. This is why I vastly prefer the K-wing

but the R4 TLT Thug? man there is nothing more fun than reliable dice ^_^ (except for bombs ignoring dice altogether  )

Contrary to belief you can fly TLTs creatively. Use them as psychological weapons, create danger zones in which the opponent should never drop the soap for any reason.

"Danger zone like this one?"

Perfect!

Man K wings. Don't even hav ea R1 donut.

I'm going to go cry myself a paradise without rebels.

Agreed. TLT Y-wings don't really bring anything interesting as both the flyer and the opponent.

I hate playing against TLT's. I think I'd hate flying them to. I agree they're a bore. I love it though when it's a one on one battle with Whisper versus any ship with TLT. That's when it's interesting I think. Getting inside that donut and just firing away makes me feel like I'm winning the war against TLT's haha. Today I beat my friend who had Dash at full health and I had whisper at 1 hit point left and I came all the way back and won. TLT's can be beat but it takes creative strategies to do so.

because you're Imperial.

Imperials start whining and bitching as soon as they move first and shoot last.

Nothing is as spoiled as an Imperial with a boost in his hands.

one on one with whisper isn't a feat even post-errata

It's "dishwater" not "ditchwater".

lol no.

This post is however more fun than tlt's.

I've only used them a few times, and I swear I only ever role 3 Crits every time. So annoying to lose them.

Twins brings nothing to the game except frustration and non-interaction induced boredom. What ever moron at FFG thought that a card that doesn't require dice interaction in almost half it's attack rolls and can only be countered by a build combination of ship and upgrade instead of an in-game strategy when spammed, should really be questioned.

I know the large two ship meta was a pain. I now they fixed it in part with this. This was not the cure we wanted, or needed. It's just sloppy design. And I agree: it's boring as @#$%.

Rolling your twins? Hold on let me get my damage deck here... What do you mean? Reach for my dice? Ha ha! Ooh your silly this is X-wing, dice don't matter except for the attacker and ships that have at least three agility and auto thrust. What? You thought this was a game with a core combat mechanic centered around dice? Ooh no we got rid of the action-y cinematic feel a wave or so ago. We're trying to make it more a math problem these days and eliminate the need for good flying so we have no skill at all required except for learning sequences. Anyway go ahead and roll your twins, it's a difficulty one so two successes to succeed but let's be real, one will succeed too.

Okay I'm being super snarky about it, but that is what it feels like some times. And yes I blame the play test group that let it through for failing to see it for the slop it is as much if not more than the cards designer. Yes I'm salty. Yes I'll live. I'll still play X-wing. But I will probably not play any competitive while in a coin toss meta of Autothrusters vs Twin Laser. May be more diverse. But it's not actually better by any standard.

My opinion, it's the only thing I'm entitled to on the internet. Take it or leave it. Just don't berate me for it.

extra dice interaction wouldn't do jack **** about TLTs being boring for you

re: PWTs already exist

rolling dice has zero tactical nuance, and I for one appreciate anything that keeps the green buggers away from my ruin-able games

instead, TLTs can be dodged, and that is infinitely preferable for a tactical game as opposed to Yahztee or a narrative game such as DnD

I can understand people finding it dull (I still find TLT Ys too boring to play more than one of), but PWTs were far and away a dumber, less nuanced, lazier, more throw-away game mechanic compared to TLT.

As much as I like TLT's effect on the meta, I've simply been unable to will myself to fly quad TLT more than a few times.

Things like Biggs walks the hwks, triple k wing tactician TLT, and 2 TLT's and 2 FCS B-Wings I can play.

Besides, when quad TLT gets hard countered you don't even get the troll joy of just doing 3 straights and wiping someone's Talonbane Cobra at range 3 with 2 dice.

TLT's have a whisper like effect on the meta.

TLT's have a whisper like effect on the meta.

To a degree, yes. But what they encourage is better for the game, and what they autowin against kind of deserves to not dominate the game completely anymore.

TLT's have a whisper like effect on the meta.

Maybe but they did say they were going to watch it close so if it's too good it'll get a nerf sooner than the phantom did.

That was just silly. I completely approve.

Sum Peoples ain't happy wit nuttins!

Meta...

:P

Whats the point of this thread?

TLT are not overpowered. They are predictable.

If you don't like PWT, and or TLT don't fly them.

End thread.
