So Im wanting to build up on my Imperials for a change. I currently have The VIC that came with the starter, a Gladiator, a Raider, and a handful of Squadrons including Rouges and Villans. What would be an Ideal next purchase for building a formidable Imperial fleet?
Slow growing my Imperials. what to get next?
ISD

You have all you need! That's what my fleet is. ISD just to sit on a shelf and look at.
Perhaps another raider for more ordnance experts and they are fun little picket ships.

Let me offer some serious suggestions...
Many Imperial players like the Imperial. The Imperial not only gives you the option of Vader, but it comes with a few choice upgrade cards that look nice on your VSD (including the Tractor Beam). I suspect Imperials are going to form the core of many lists, because they can output a lot of dice and destruction. Having one Imperial opens a lot of options, but there are some of us who aren't satisfied without two or three. I'll be acquiring my second, but I already have intentions for a third if I get one.
I do not have hands-on experience with Raiders but what I see, I like. Having multiple Raiders allows you to have multiple ion cannons or missile slots on the board for you to exploit (with Screed). They are cheaper than Gladaitors, are faster, and are better on squadron defense. I would suggest two or three if you liked.
I think stopping at two Gladiators is recommended, but some wanting to run the Gencon special go for three. I do not know how this is shaping up in the Wave 2 environment. If you have one, you may be fine, since Demolisher is still powerful in wave 2.
You can't have enough fighters either. I have two Imperial fighter packs and two R&V packs to give me a good selection of ships. I'm hoping FFG can replace an Interceptor squadron that went missing recently, since that's one of the reasons to pick up multiple fighter packs.
So I'd say it depends on how much you want to spend. An Imperial is costly but gives you a tremendous firepower advantage to bring you on-par with the Rebels. If you feel like you want to save, pick up one or two more Raiders and experiment with the different load-outs possible.

You offer some good points. A second Gladiator or Raider would be interesting.
But how would you feel about getting another Victory Class?
An Imperial Class is extremely tempting, after all who doesn't want one as a centerpiece to his or her Imperial fleet.
I just want one. Cost is not an issue. Just want a good ship
ISD, thing is amazing. Best ship in the game straight off the card.
An ISD does sound like a solid and flexible choice for any growing fleet.
It alone is a huge threat on a table.

Wow!! beauty fleet starbrother!!!.....(wiping drool off chin)....very jealous... ![]()
The assymetry caused by the odd number of Corvettes is very distracting. 1/5 stars.

I know you are just fooling but you have no idea what the asymmetry there is doing to my OCD
You can also get a second VSD and more squad packs for a classic Rhymer ball. With the second VSD, you get Churpy and corruptor.
I don't know if the Rhymer ball is a tourny winner, but it's fun to play.

Looks like someone is headed out to buy another CR90.....
ISD, hands down.
ISD, hands down.
I have to agree. Eventually getting the Vic expansion is a good idea for the upgrades and such, but the next buy should be the ISD. This would give you one of each kind of Imperial ship. Plus, it's an ISD. You gotta have an ISD.
If you don't get an ISD next I can already hear Lord Vader. "You have failed me for the last time, Admiral".

Your next action should be to throw away all your Imperial scum and go play a real team like the Rebellion.

Psh, not that much pew, virtually everyone is obstructed.
Ok ISD it is.....besides my favorite sith Is Vader and he comes with the ISD.... Although I found a thread on here saying that he sucks....wich I don't see why...because any chance to reroll dice I think is pretty awesome
Edited by ScytheanIts because there are some re-roll upgrades in the game already, you can take them with another admiral and have that ability instead of Vader's re-roll. It's a case of apples vs oranges IMO.
You may want another VSD eventually to have access to it's upgrade cards and Motti... but three? I own three, but I'm not certain about how VSDs will be used during the Wave 2 days. XI7s and Home one can effectively make them defenseless.

And I thought I didn't skimp on my Imperial fleet.
I see that my skills at blithely blowing money on plastic and cardboard toys is overshadowed by your own.

Well when you put it like that...you know...completely accurately....
Well, I don't go out partying, I don't drink or do really much else recreationally so spending money on Armada is my primary vice. My wife doesn't mind as long as I also buy games she likes ![]()
I feel like I have everything I really NEED right now which is actually kinda annoying me. I could go for a third MC80 and ISD but even 2 in a standard 400 points is really stretching it to the limit.
People think Vader sucks because they're using him with the old Imperial tactics (GSDs goin' a Brawlin') instead of using him as a building block toward new Imperial tactics (Red Dice Hooooooo!)
