See the movie. Fly the ships. Region 4

By Occamrazor, in X-Wing

Great article to create hype. It wasn't my top of mind to think of the ships we will be flying soon, now I'm going to enjoy the movie even more. What also struck me were this words near the end of the article:

"Since 2012, X-Wing has rapidly become one of the biggest games in the miniatures industry, but it still has the potential to become much, much larger. First of all, Star Wars is enjoying a revival, and that means the world will see more fans looking to enjoy the Star Wars universe in new and interesting ways. As one of these possible ways, X-Wing breaks down many of the barriers to gaming with its eye-catching pre-painted starships, easy-to-learn rules, relatively low entry cost, and overwhelmingly positive and welcoming community.

Yes, you are one of the game's greatest assets, and you can help others enjoy the fantasy and action of the Star Wars universe in ways they did not know exist. All you have to do is tell them about the game and invite them to play. In fact, many hobby stores around the nation have received X-Wing demo stations for just this purpose. Perhaps, you can talk to your favorite local gaming store and offer to run a demo day."

I'm in Mexico and it has been a really painful to lean we're "temporarily" off the fun for licensing matters. I understand the situation behind it and something FFG has been trying to solve, the frustration still lingers. I started playing 8 months ago on a player run demo, and as many things down here, players have taken ownership or recruiting new players and making a thriving community. Extent and effort has gone beyond Mexico city as players have tried to create healthy and competitive hubs across our nation. I feel the opportunity for Mexico to capitalize on the hype with demo and product is waning, as product isn't readily available and becomes more cash intensive (add to the mix FX hasn't been great on dolar - pesos and it's a double burden).

The lack of organized play will also have an additional toll on our community, although actions are already occurring by player to offset this potential risks. No more regionals or nationals it seems for next year, and anchoring even other franchise games (armada and Imperial Assault are/ were just taking off) will be an even steeper hill.

The aftertaste of the article ended, unintentionally feeling wrong at least for me and perhaps for other international readers grieved by our ineligibility. I hope FFG can urge change to the best of their extent to change terms, bottomline is that profit is profit, whether domestic or abroad.

Is that like a werewolf erection?

Can't say I understand your frustrations, but I do hope FFG finds ways to get their product outside of the states a little better. I heard Brazil suffers pretty horribly too. They are like, 2 waves behind or something. Just crazy.
