So, as much as fun as we all have dancing around our opponents and making nail-bitingly close maneuvers with our favorite Aces, I want to try and give generics some love in each faction. I just had a few personal rules in making these lists:
1) Each list needed to feature at least one of the generics twice. For example, if a Rebel list included a Bandit Squadron Pilot, Red Squadron Pilot and a Gold Squadron Pilot, one of those ships needed to be duplicated.
2) Lists also cannot contain more than three of the same generic. So, this eliminates any 4x TLT shenanigans, 8x Academy Pilot swarms, or BBBBZ. We've all seen those lists before, and what's the fun in doing the same thing as everyone else?
3) Lastly, and perhaps most obviously, no unique / named pilots!
Without further ado, here are my lists. Obviously these are a bit more fun-oriented, but some of the soon-to-be released upgrades might allow these lists to become more competitive. Also, I haven't played any of these yet -- it's mostly just theorycraft and fun.
Scum and Villainy: Mandalorian Escort
Mandalorian Mercenary (38) x2
- Predator (3)
Binayre Pirate (12) x2
Total: 100
Pretty straightforward list -- 20 HP, decent amount of firepower. With low-PS generics becoming evermore popular, not to mention an abundance of stress, I wanted to take Predator on the Mercenaries to allow some form of actionless dice modification if necessary. Alternate builds can go with Crackshot + Glitterstim rather than Predator for a mean alpha strike. Use the Binayres to distract or block higher PS ships then close in for a juicy kill with re-rolling Mercenaries.
Rebel Scum: Greensleeves
Green Squadron Pilot (24) x3
- A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
- Juke (2)
- Push the Limit (3)
- Autothrusters (2)
- Chardaan Refit (-2)
Gray Squadron Pilot (26)
- BTL-A4 (0)
- Twin Laser Turret (6)
- R3-A2 (2)
Total: 100
This list again plays on the proliferation of lower PS filler in a wide variety of lists. Hopefully the Gray Squadron Pilot will take advantage of its higher PS than other generics to inflict some stress / damage with the Title, Astromech and TLT. A-Wings follow up in subsequent rounds by using PtL to take an Evade on top of an action for blocking, repositioning or just a good ol' Focus token. The idea is that stressed ships won't be getting an action, so, despite their low attack, A-Wings can force opponents' Evade results into a Focus without a token to spend and significantly increase damage output.
Galactic Empire: Royal Correction
Royal Guard Pilot (29) x2
- Royal Guard TIE (0)
- Push the Limit (3)
- Autothrusters (2)
- Targeting Computer (2)
Tempest Squadron Pilot (21) x2
- TIE/x1 (0)
- Accuracy Corrector (0)
Total: 100
This list is all about what the Empire does best: massive firepower from fragile ships. Tempests can be used to block since Accuracy Corrector always guarantees two hits without the fear of losing actions. The Royal Guard Pilot begins to shine against even some of the more meta-oriented lists with their PS6 and the incredible survivability that Push the Limit affords Interceptors. Depending on the timing and execution, a Focus + TL attack from a Royal Guard can lead to some serious devastation for whatever ship is unlucky enough to defend against it.
