Colonel Jendon Shuttle

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I'm wondering - is Jendon worth it to try running with a few Tie Interceptors? I like the idea of sending in interceptors with a target lock, but having a more points on a shuttle just seems like you are painting a target for your opponent to come after.

Anybody have any experience running Jendon successfully?

The problem is that Jendon flies like a brick and his ability only works at R1. With Interceptors you usually want to flank and generally outmanouver. I think a targeting computer is a safer bet.

The big problem is what you're giving up. Jendon is going to want ST-321 as well to be properly effective, and by that time you're essentially losing a ship in return for a one-use target lock.

Jendon's best use that I've seen is with TIE Punishers and TIE Bombers in epic. Start in the corner and hand out locks to the heavy mob - then they can hit the gas and close and torpedo a big ship or swarm the moment it comes into range.

Agreed, 29 points just to enable his basic function is not viable outside of Epic.

Ok. What I thought. Just needed confirmation.

I had ne hilaroius build that used Jendon and an academy pilot as a Palp flight, while Colonel Vessery, Lone Wolf, soloed the enemy forces.

So, the best I've come up with on the squad builder is to put him with 3 Saber Sq. Pilots with Autothrusters, but there aren't enough points for Elite Talents (2 points left). Dropping them to Avenger Sq. Pilots frees up 3 points, so you have 5 points to add to the shuttle if you wish, maybe Gunner, maybe Intelligence Agent with some systems slot.

The other idea I rather like is to put him with 3 Tempest Sq. Pilots with Advanced Targeting Computer. Colonel Jendon hands out the TLs so the TIE advanced fighters will be able to safely Focus or Evade for Defense, or have the option of spending the Focus on offense since they have relatively low pilot skills. It should put out about the same amount of damage as Accuracy Corrector advanced, at least until you have to switch targets. The other nice thing is that these fighters don't necessarily want to arc dodge, so they will be easier to keep with the shuttle.
