Does any one know if there is a complied race pdf put out by FFG of all the 40ish or so races that have been printed through out all the various books of all three lines? I know species have been printed in all three versions of the game, and have seen the compiled race list and the unofficial creature menagerie. I know that the unofficial list is very popular, but i'm kind of a stickler for getting official list when ever I can
Compiled race stats
Nope. I don't believe that's entirely legal or that FFG is allowed to produce one. There are various full lists, but any file you'd use you'd have to make yourself.
why couldnt ffg print a list of races that they have already published in their own books?
Theoretically, FFG could do anything they want to.
In practice, this kind of thing becomes a pain to maintain. I say that as a guy who is trying to maintain precisely such a list.
For FFG, the situation would be ten times worse, simply because they have plenty of people who have access to unpublished information, and it would take a tiny slip of the mouse to accidentally publish that kind of information online.
You have to keep “Chinese Walls” between your published and unpublished stuff, and so long as all that information has to flow through the same outlet process (i.e., a book being printed in China and then being shipped overseas), it’s easier to do that.
The moment you go to “print material goes one way, online material goes the other”, you start playing a dangerous game. So long as the online material is very carefully written glimpses and synopses, and there are whole teams of people that go over them with a fine-toothed comb many times over, you might be okay. And if you’re working with/for The Mouse That Roars, you have to double down on your process for validating, verifying, obfuscating, omitting, censoring, and downgrading what is effectively corporate classified material. The NSA and CIA would love to be able to use some of the techniques that are employed by “Da Mouse”.
But as soon as you start publishing a database of everything that’s been released so far, all bets are off.
I’m sure they maintain all sorts of lists and databases internally just to keep the necessary amount of consistency across the lines, but that kind of information will never, ever, ever see the light of day — at least, not without being re-created from scratch by people working only from public information and who do not have any official or unofficial ties to FFG.
So, pretty much the best that we can ever possibly reasonably hope for is for someone to maintain an unofficial list, and to do a reasonably good job of keeping it up to date.
They arent gonna put the species stats for free on the web. They want you to buy the books.
Or use one of the character generators that people have created, such as: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/89135-another-character-generator/?view=findpost&p=1278643&hl=%2Boggdude+%2Bcharacter+%2Bgenerator
