Move Over Brobots… Let the Real Bounty Hunters Do The Job

By VaynMaanen, in X-Wing

For my Store Championship this weekend, I am bringing that exact Boba paired with 2 Thugs with TLT and R4 Agromech. I've been using the Agro TLT dudes for a few weeks now to great effect. Being able to modify both shots massively smooths out the damage.

Also a list I've been running! R4 Agromechs are beast!

For what it is worth I finally lost with Boba/Bossk. I was 7-0 using it and then lost my round 4 game in the last tournament by the narrowest of margins. Still at 7-1 I really do think this list can handle anything. Was pretty worried about the Crack Swarm but I was popping ties left right and centre.

I have been running

Boba, VI, Stims, Tactician, Engine, Slave I 48

Bossk, Predator, Outlaw Tech, Gunner, Tactician 51

I still flip flop between Lone(shark)wolf and Predator, I really want to like Loneshark but it means I have to think about maneuvers too much.

Really enjoy the list.

Glad to see this thread necro'd since it actually inspired me to buy a yv 666. I just started running my spray alongside the big guy, so far its been awesome.

I call it Slave Tooth.

Kath- expert handling, homing missiles, seismic charges, k4 droid, extra munis, slave 1

Bossk- expert handling, mangler cannon, outlaw tech, k4 droid, 4-LOM, maneuver fins (gonna add navigator next game)

I agree that this is an awesome thread and I'm glad it resurfaced. I have been flying scum ever since I was preparing for nationals and I've wanted to fly something besides brobots. I have been flying a very similar list with Bossk and IG-B and had done pretty well with it. I'm definitely going to try switching out IG for Boba. My preferred loadout for Bossk is: VI, engine, inertial dampeners, K-4, tactitian and gunner (50 pts). If anything gets at R-2 they are pretty much out of the fight. Imagine a triple or quadruple stressed Soontir Fel or Poe; it's a beautiful thing. I haven't ever tried out mangler cannon, so I may give it a go.

My tactic with robo-bossk was to face IG at the bulk of their ships and Bossk on the opposite end of the board. IG would quickly turn and run away and bait their squad to chase him while Bossk shot around and flanked them. Opponents usually pursue IG to try and take out the HLC gunslinger and realize too late how damaging Bossk is if left alone.

I'm having success with Kath and Moralo as a combination. They don't have the pilot skill advantages of Boba and Bossk, but I find they hit harder from long range. Also, Kath's ability is excellent for protecting Moralo's rear arc. In the list I'm running, I give Kath an HLC which seems to be working well.

I am planning to take Boba and Moralo to an upcoming store championship.

Moralo Eval (47) - YV-666

Ion Cannon (3), Tactician (2), Bossk (2), Gunner (5), Inertial Dampeners (1)

Boba Fett (52) - Firespray-31

Veteran Instincts (1), Ion Bombs (2), Tactician (2), Glitterstim (2), Slave I (0), Engine Upgrade (4), Extra Munitions (2)

I haven't had a chance to practice this exact list, but both ships can potentially leave an enemy stressed and ioned. Range 2 of Moralo is a scary place for any ace as they will end up with ion and stress or double stressed.

What's people's opinion on modifiying Paragoomba's imperial Boba to run something similar here? You could downsize to the still-nasty trandoshan, giving it its favoured build...

Boba Fett (60) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Proton Bombs (5), Tactician (2), Homing Missiles (5), Glitterstim (2), Slave-1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4), Extra Munitions (2)

Trandoshan Slaver (40) YV-666 (29), Bossk (2), Gunner (5), Tactician (2), Feedback Array (2)

Boba gets a lot more scary to aces, gains area denial and swarm evaporation, the slaver gives up the PS fight in favour of maximising that 180-arc, with a little backside insurance with feedback...

Homing Missiles are great but if I'm using Tactician, Glitterstim, and Scum Boba, there is way more synergy with Cluster Missiles.

Your build looks solid other than the feedback array. Homers and clusters are both solid but you will find they are much more of a pain to use without the k4 enabler.

Like PGS said clusters have better synergy with tactician and in fact bobas ability as well. On the flip side homers shine where boba could really use the additional punch, at range 3 and during the opening exchanges. I'm currently on homing missiles although I switch frequently. Another option I've been considering is a split of 1 cluster 1 proton because I value the initial strike pretty heavily in these type of 2 ship lists.

On a similar note I've started running expert handling on both my ships recently and I would highly recommend it to anyone running bossk with a mangler.

The firespray I'm now feeling is still better off with greater mobility. This is after 10 games or so with EH on both.

What prompted me to use EH initially is the extremely high occurrence of target lock enabled ships in my meta. Specifically VADER and OMEGA LEADER, but also ordnance. If you face any of these you will find EH simply fantastic at combating them while controlling range. It is also the superior repositioning choice by far with the major downsides being it takes an EPT and self stressing. Bossk doesn't care and the less obvious benefit here besides being cheaper than EU is that it completely eliminates the need to use his reds, which means it frees up the slot for outlaw tech. Seriously try it. Fett finds it limiting though while kath cares less due to 5 attack primary.

I've been trying my best not to bump my own thread unless it's a reply, but I can't help it today after that Punishing One preview. So many options!!

Subbing Dengar for one of these pilots came to mind. Will need to try out that dial to see how he fares.

The new crew options will need to be explored. Gonk on Boba, with defensive rerolls can make him very very durable and better to endure a tournament by recovering MoV points.

Dengar crew might be a good substitution for K4 Security Droid on Bossk. This will give you rerolls no matter the maneuver and allows you to freely boost as your action for better positioning.

So happy to see Scum getting some love!

I'm liking the idea of Gonk on Boba and Dengar instead of K4 on Bossk as you mentioned. Being able to re-roll while stressed without giving up PS is huge. Also, with everyone terrified of regen I can see it making Boba even more juicy a target, allowing Bossk to run rampant. Our local league allows card proxies and I'm totally going to run this. Can't wait to get a Jumpmaster!

I think Dengar absolutely goes in the revised list, but if you still intend to get the huge arc benefit of the Tactician, it's as the K4 Droid replacement. Either way, we're way more thematic now.

Three badass bounty hunters with a pile of wide tactician arcs. Plus, Outlaw Tech and Dengar play together in a way that K4 Droid and Outlaw Tech never did. With these three hombres on your tail, that bounty's as good as collected.
