Been playing for a while now, and it is coming more and more apparent that there are some cards that are just too good, or feel as if they are needed to help the Imperial Fleet.

So far I struggle to build a Fleet without Motti. He just brings so much to the Fleet that it is hard to ignore, also he is our second cheapest Admiral. As this game doesn't have a system where each point of damage sustained reduces the effectiveness of the ships, the only important piece of hull is the last. Making our ships even harder to kill is brilliant, 3 Imperial Class Star Destroyers and Motti is going to be a very tough nut to crack, sure if his Flagship is taken out the rest of the fleet drops.

Same is true of Gunnery Teams. We pay a premium for the sheer weight of damage our ships can unleash from the front arc, and our broadsides are quite frankly weak. Gaining the ability to fire out of the same arc twice is again something that is too good to pass on. The one balancing issue is that we have to target a different ship, that isn't a bad thing, as allows our fleets to spread out their damage over the enemy fleet.

Maybe I need to change my approach to Fleet building, is anyone else finding that there are cads that they just have to take above all others?

Be reckless! Try new and exciting things, oh and above all else! Expect to lose but do it with an open mind.

Absolutely nothing is an Auto-Include for me.

On the Serious note - You'll find so many builds in the Forums here that, basically, what is Auto-Include for you, can very easily be Trash for others.. This is as much a matter of your local meta as it is theirs... But even simply saying "I can't use this" to yourself is enough of an excuse.

None of this holds true for me. Motti is not my go-to guy. Gunnery Teams see a lot of use, but are hardly auto.

I do try to find room for Demolisher though. I've yet to come up with any good reason NOT to add a ship that can shoot black dice after moving.

Next is Rhymer. If I have squadrons, I try to fit Rhymer. He doesn't always make the cut though.

After wave 2 I'm hard pressed not to take an ISD. Why would I NOT want an ISD?

Even then, I'd say only on ISD-IIs and VSD-IIs. It's generally felt wasted whenever I've tried it on the shorter-ranged variants.

Lets me shoot the support ship with my red dice, then blast the fighters at close.

I also have to say I am not sure there is any auto include. I like Tarken but not all the time. If I am going fighter heavy do not use gunnery teams much. Ship heavy use them alot.
