Nexu's price

By Alatriste, in Game Masters

Hi everyone.

I'm actually running the adventure "Beyond the rim", and one of my players wants to catch a living nexu.

He is planning to sell the nexu, but I don't have idea of how many credits would it be. Any help, please?

I don't have the book in front of me, but check out Stay on Target. The closest creature from that book to a nexu is the narglatch. Use the price listed there as a foundation, with maybe 10-20% more to represent the relative isolation of Cholganna.

That's what I do. Also when he catches one you might wanna think of the "Quality" of the Nexu he caught. As a real life hunter I can tell you that some trophies from animals are more revered than others. Of course he wants to cath this alive so maybe do something like: So he has 2 successes and 3 Advantages the Nexu is especially powerful and has pristine fur and perfect teeth thus raising the price around 15%.

It also depends on the age of the Nexu. Is he looking at attempting to catch a cub, or a full adult. Who is he looking to sell to? an exotic breeder? I have a pathfinder that has a nexu cub as the paired animal, and I can say, without a doubt, even as a cub, its really dangerous. I would look to the book mentioned above, and then take a lot of narrative into it.

And I would make it dangerous. really, really dangerous. Especially if they are hunting a cub.

I ended up with a nexu-hide hat after that little foray, Crocodile Dundee style.

Did you use the Nexu's teeth as decoration for the brim?

Well, this is interesting. I suppose I may as well post this here rather than starting my own thread. Long story short: In our world Shorwarr left after our PCs left him... a little worse for wear. He wanted a less stressful life. In another campaign taking place in hutt space, I'm using that as canon. Shorwarr has taken some Nexu to a new planet, a planet whose economy relies on a resort in which the rich come to relax, and often, to hunt for sport in the game preserve. He runs the hunts for the rich idiots, a much easier job and it pays well. One problem while my new PCs are on this planet is that an alpha Nexu has been born and started to control the animals, as well as take out livestock outside the preserve (it learned to escape). Shorwarr wants the PCs to help him take it down. Luckily, the PCs have a good reason to want a live Nexu, so they agree. I designed an encounter to do this, modeled after the scene in The Lost World where inGen comes rolling on to Isla Sorna cappin' dinos all badass style:

Encounter as I've set it up in obsidian portal: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qbo8pfkk118depm/The%20Hunt%20_%20A%20Cure%20For%20Injustice%20_%20Obsidian%20Portal.html?dl=0

EDIT PDF Version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vluma44q2t7u255/The%20Hunt.pdf?dl=0

That's the encounter as I've set it up. Problem I have is I don't feel I've given the PCs much choice and it'll devolve into dice rolling. I need more options for them, perhaps with fuller chase rules, treating the Nexu as a speed 3 land vehicle and using its athletics instead of piloting. I'm still fleshing it out, but in the meantime am very open to suggestions. I think it'll be a **** fun way to capture the thing alive rather than just having them fight one and do strain damage. I'm sure this encounter could be adapted in other such 'capture an agile predatory animal alive' type scenarios, depending on your location.

Yes, and yes, respectively. Well, actually the vibrosword is named "Ruin" (sniper rifle is named "Wrath"), but I'm known to overquote a certain Paul Hogan.

It's a Space-Australian!

Where would they come from though... Mandalore?

or the Great Outdoors...

I was thinking that because of Temuera Morrison, but he's a Kiwi, so, yeah.

For anything related to Nexus — did you check the adventure book “Beyond the Rim”?

Nevermind. I just re-read the initial post. D’oh!

My PC is a vertically challenged Kel-Dor. He is more acclimated to the urban jungle as opposed to the real one, so I always try to play him off as the guy that buys the brand new camping equipment and thinks he knows what he's doing for every camping trip. If you've ever been camping with a group of people, you know the guy I'm talking about. I'd never really attached any sort of earth-regional thinking to the Kel Dor, but Aussie is as good as any.
