Hi All

Im new to Armada, but have been playing around with ideas for builds with wave 2 stuff. Trying to make a list with my two MC30 jumbo shrimp (or are we calling them squid yet?....Squimp?!?!?!). I like the torpedo frigate and backing those up with CR90 Bs (for more blue dice) seems like a solid, if gimmicky list. Concept is to use 8 point bid to go second (is that enough?). Selected objectives like minefield and outpost in order to attempt to channel/herd enemy ships allowing me to pick a target and attempt to hammer it with concentrated black/blue dice fire before breaking away. Mothma seems like a solid pick to keep the ships alive on the approach due to evades on all ships. Ion batteries take advantage of blue dice and strip tokens, before squimps jump in for the killing blow. Its squadron light but none of the ships have huge fighter control. X Wings seem like a solid pick for a fighter screen though i could swap them for As, or alternatively scrap squadrons completely to add another CR90 B, a few upgrades and higher points bid.

Personally, I would remove the titles and add Turbo laser reroute circuits to the MC30s. They will benefit you much more than the benefits of the titles. I run a similar list with three MC30's and a corvette, but if you are aiming to use the ion cannons (see what I did there...) then this list looks pretty solid.

Mon Mothma makes Foresight amazing, but sort of conflicts with Admonition, since you're burning evades that can still do you good even at close range. I'd suggest dropping Admonition, but I can't imagine what else you'd really get much benefit from in its place, other than possibly beefing up your fighter screen a bit (I personally hate X-wings).

TRC won't do him any good without any reds. He'd need to switch to Ackbar or the scout shrimp to make them worth anything, at which point you're talking about a pretty different build.

Thanks guys, yeah I made ion weapons a feature of the list as i think it might work. Increasing blue dice and getting the fleet closer makes getting to use those black dice more likely too,

I thought admonition is one of those titles that you take for the chance to cancel a really important dice. It adds to the potential survivability, but you are right, I dont see myself using it except against really critical attack rolls. Could drop it for a better fighter screen I suppose, though more fighters might not be better, due to poor fighter control in the fleet.

As for the X Wings i wanted to take an anti fighter component and Xs seemed like a better match. They are slower than As but hit harder against squadrons and have bomber and red dice to soften up ships. AWings or Han/Dash would be a solid choice too and an easy swap.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the shrimps need ECM since they have redundant defense tokens. I'd also agree that admonition is not that great with this build.

So with that spare 22 points, you could upgrade both shrimps to scouts or add in a couple of fighters.

Fixed that for you. Those blue dice are way better on these than two reds, particularly with Mon Mothma keeping the shrimp alive at close range. Reliable, and you're looking at double the odds of getting those accuracies that you really need in order to push through the damage from the blacks.

I could drop admonition for Ray, to get some good old fashioned token spam on the not-foresight (Hindsight :P) instead, but im not sure to drop the ECM from both MC30s. They really arent that tough and having no Red dice of its own the fleet needs both to survive to get close enough to make up their points in close range attacks. ECM adds to the chances of doing that. Maybe someone with more experience with MC30s can correct me if im off base here.

The fighters are there to stop enough of the enemy bombers getting through that the fleet ships can make it into engagement range, if possible. Anti squadron firepower isnt great in either the CR90s or squimps, so no squadrons isnt really an option. 4 stands of fighters isnt much of a squadron presence either but hopefully it will be enough to slow down a rhymerball or similar for long enough that the squimps can get into optimal range.

Ok so updated the build following feedback. Less squadrons, but Han helping out will reduce the depedndence on commands. Dropped admonition for Ray and added Lando to Mothma to keep her alive if targeted. Went with ambush to try and get something important closer to me

Better or worse? Im not sure whether less squadrons is better and havent had experience with Han to see if he makes up the difference. He throws lots of dice though :P
