I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used the GR75 as an obstacle in a standard game. Ive been playing on and off since the game launched, and watched numerous Team Covenant videos, but have never seen anyone do it.
Huge Ships as Obstacles, Anyone?
Yes, I did so, but most poeple you will see on videos don't, because it is a purely casual thing. It was a fun game, but it was very easy to abuse such a large area for cover. It also is painfull to resolve overlaps, a lot more so than with standart obstacles. It made the game look really good, though.
I would try it, it is fun, but it also is obvious why it is not permitted in tournament play.
^Wouldn't overlaps be easier? I thought any overlaps with the Huge ship resulted in immediate destruction?
Also, while I've never done it, I imagine it'd be kinda fun using either Dash's ability...
If the huge ship hits you, your ship is destroyed. If you hit it, it counts as an obstacle.

No, you have to backtrack like with collisions, which I find somewhat unelegant with obstacles.
I've used them for obstacles on narrative, Had some very good dogfights with them.
I've used the GR-75 as an obstacle twice and it is a thing of beauty! But it is so different from your typical obstacles because you can't weave between parts of it the way you can between obstacles. If you deploy in a corner and the transport is near that corner, it forces you to telegraph your line of approach to your opponent because it often takes several turns to clear it, allowing them to manage range and dictate the terms of the engagement. So be aware of that.
Overall, I like the look much better than fighting in an asteroid field. In fact, a Rebel Transport with debris tokens looks like the remains of fierce battle, and THAT seems like a much more likely spot for a fighter engagement to me.
Edited by ParakitorI've been playing with the idea of having a derelict Transport move across the board in a straight line but randomly altering facing. Using a four sided die to determine facing would prevent, or at least hinder, someone from hiding in the shadow of the Transport. Changing the facing but still have it move in a straight line is proving to be harder than I thought.
