400 Point Mon Mothma build idea

By stev, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I was toying around with a fleet designed for the everyone's favorite female commander (very stiff competition there) and wanted some feedback and thoughts :)

[ REBEL FLEET (398 points)
1 • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - Mon Mothma - Raymus Antilles - Yavaris (99)
2 • Nebulon-B Support Refit - Slaved Turrets - Salvation (64)
3 • MC30c Scout Frigate - Ordnance Experts - Assault Proton Torpedoes - Foresight (86)
4 • CR90a Corellian Corvette - Turbolaser Reroute Circuits - Jaina's Light (53)
5 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B - Dodonna's Pride (45)
6 • A-wing Squadron (11)
7 • A-wing Squadron (11)
8 • ''Dutch'' Vander Y-wing Squadron (16)
9 • X-wing Squadron (13)

The biggest issue that I see is that Nebs only have one evade, so one accuracy and your advantage is gone. I'm personally a fan of using an Assault Frigate II with Electronic Countermeasures in Mon Mothma lists.

The points to up to a whale just makes it very hard to balence rest fleet

Thematically, I love it. I'm unsure of competitive value, personally. I'm usually a fan of Leia on Jaina's Light, as support for command flexibility that can use obstacles for cover, but I'm not sure what you could drop to fit her. And, anyway, you don't have any of the big command stack ships. With command 1-2, I don't know that you'll get yourself into too much trouble. At command 3, a Leia corvette can be a lifesaver.

I was thinking of trying this at my local tourny Sunday. I don't care about winning or being best fleet. I'm hoping that mix of ships will be able to hold there own. What are your thoughts on the objectives?

JJ Juggernaut is running something similar in the Vassal Tournament right now. He has a third CR90 in place of Yavaris and all three are A models running TRLCs. I suggest you pop over and take a look at his list. Having seen it in action, it's downright terrifying. It's death by paper cut that you just can't pin down.

I've been running something similar, but with a second MC-30 instead of the Yavaris. It's been really great for me. I'd suggest Overload Pulse over Dodonna's Pride. With having 5 ships, it's pretty easy to take advantage of Overload Pulse when it triggers.

Thing is I only have 1 trc only 1 mc30 expansion and I will look into overload pulse

I have tried this build last night and its great fun to play!

My buddy played 2 ISD's with motti and the demolisher. I had a solid victory :).

Thanks for the list, I think it has a good idea behind it and will help me solve a problem I am having in building my own fleet. Being how to get 4 ships and a good number of squadrons.

The Neb's are often under-rated for having 1 shield, but for me two braces trumps the shield almost every game.

I was also thinking about dropping the mc30 to torpedo and upgrading to wedge to really mess up enemy fighters and increase overall suitability of fighters. Also this uses 5 ships a real armada!

go on wiki get the image resize and proxy. proxies look great on 110 paper and 600ppi. don't by a ship for a card....that is a scam that needs to stop. and if your local tourney has a problem with you playing a proxy, either get some other players and tell the store you will stop playing or there get a garage and do it yourself... four, four players and just play. simple. when people start to do this F will final be forced into to selling upgrade card packs and be deceit instead of greed. I think we should learn from the financial crisis that greedy has its limits and the people have the people to say no more.

I just don't see it.

Fighter screens are all or nothing now. Intel and brutally efficient fighter squadrons (Aggressor) means you can't just throw some A-wings at the problem and hope they last long enough for you to do what you need to,

There are only two punchers here, and one of them wants to be a range band closer than Mothma likes. Both of them will fold to anything more than one ship shooting one arc one time. The CR90s are cute but without anything more than Salvation and a MC30 to soften up big stuff they just aren't going to get there. Don't get me wrong, Salvation is a great ship but you are hoping for some fantastically specific roles to get your ROI from it. Normally that would be fine but if you are looking to it to reliably put the hurt on something you are going to be let down at just the worst possible moment.

I would possibly look into dropping the Nebs for an AFmk2, or going to down to one CR90 with Jaina's light and dropping a Nen or something. I love multi ship builds but they really need an insurance policy. If not Ackbar then a suitably impressive centerpiece that they can coordinate around.

Of course this is all about the winning. As a fun theme list it looks like a riot. Also if your opponents play along this will get there.

Well also think about objectives you dont always need to kill opponents to win this game and that is why i was thinking lower mc30 to torpedo and upgrading x-win to wedge. Dutch wedge a win yarvanis can cause serious fighter damage it is a force multiple. What are your thoughts on objectives though?

Well your bid is pretty low at 2 points. You'll probably be picking a lot. However your list can play a few objectives well and odds are your fleet will have a good time with most of them.

I'm a little bitter with how FF handles tournaments though. If you aren't tabling your opponent FF feels you aren't playing hard enough.
