I Need A New Thread...

By Grayfax, in X-Wing

I miss Hothie's writeups... plain and simple. The long road to the Regionals that seemed to go further, and such... After the Casually Flying Away thread, I went back and re-read the other one. And now, I need a new thread... one that won't go away... one that makes me nervous, wondering what to do... eh... or something like that...

Is there an epic thread or blog I am missing from a proficient writer (not necessarily a prolific ranter)? Hothie's was convenient because it was here on the forums (or linked over to Team Covenant). I'm not opposed to reading alternate sources, because, honestly, it's all still in the same browser. It was really cool to see what went into making the different lists and how they evolved over time. The analysis after flight of what was good and what was bad. Even comments from opponents. Has anyone seen anything like this that can fill the void?

I want a new thread
One that won't make me scyk
One that won't make me crash my ship
Or make me feel three feet thick

I want a new thread
One that won't hurt my head
One that won't make my nose bleed
Or make my eyes too red

One that won't make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm beating you
When I'm beating you

I want a new thread
One that won't talk about the fix
One that says ships cost too much
Or work in a list

I want a new thread
One that won't go away
One that won't keep me up all night
One that won't make me read all day

One that won't make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when beating you
When I'm vadering you
I'm vadering you, rebel scum

I want a new thread
One that does what it should
One that won't make me feel too bad
One that won't make me feel too good

I want a new thread
One with no tweaks
One that won't make me talk too much
Or make me sound like a geek

One that won't make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm vadering you
When I'm vadering you
I'm vadering you

Is that original, or is it a parody off something? It's beautiful.

This new thread is ridiculously better than the old threads. I'm getting pretty sick of thread-creep.

It's a parody of an old Huey Lewis song, "I Need A New Drug".

Now you all know how old I am.

yeah i need a new drug just popped into my mind when i saw it. lol yeah i am old too... old enough to have really enjoyed episode 4 when it first came out!!! and then reading splinter of the minds eye. i think that was the first book... was a long time ago in a city far away..... was also bored while my cheese dip was cooking for the big game.. die hard skins fan. they lost well at least there is only 10 more days tell Star wars comes out! and My daughter gets back from college this Saturday and i am ALL done with my Christmas shopping!! (and not completely broke) So i cant complain..

Splinter was the second book if you consider the Novelization, both written by Orson Scott card I believe. The comics were out then too, all of them with different takes on the events of the movie. Between Star Wars (it's real title) and Empire there was ALOT stuff coming out, including Boba Fett. I loved getting to see Mark Hammil on the Muppets dressed in his Empire outfit before that movie came out. None of that seems to matter any more, everyone is so obsessed with this or that secondary cannon from the 90s or 00s when they forget Star Wars had plenty of secondary product throughout the 'classic' era of 1976 (when the Novelization and comics came out) to 1986 when the cartoons ended and WEG started just making stuff up.

I'm old too. And grumpy. Maybe I will go drink something out of my Burger King SW glasses now. Put some Metamucil in it.

P.S. I also got that song reference, I just didn't like that particular song. Good parody though.

Yep.....it's the song in my head as I moved to post #2. Pretty funny.

Speechless... Yeah... I had that song in my head when I started it, but I figured a hint was enough, but that... that was pretty amazing. Good to know that there are plenty of people that still know the songs of my youth...

Yes, Sergovan, that is what I am looking for. I don't mind people asking for help with their one card different list, but I enjoy people putting together a list and then telling how it did and analyzing what worked really well and what didn't. I guess I like a little story with my PvP... and I like to see how others think, it gives me a perspective I don't always take myself...

Allen Dean Foster, yes that's right. I got my sci fi authors mixed up again. Told you I was getting old.

I still consider the Wookiee Storybook to be canon. It still holds up pretty good and I would love to see that Delta-7-ish 'mini-shuttle' that Chewie launches from the falcon as an upgrade for this game!

sorry for thread jacking the OP..lol and yeah it wasn't my favorite song by a long shot. but for some reason when i read the topic it just jumped into my head..

Not thread jacking at all... it was exactly what was going through my head at the time. Cause, let's be honest, the forums are just a fix while we can't be at home or at a LGS (you lucky punks, I would settle for any, much less an FLGS) with our game... Ok... well, maybe the forums become a secondary addictive substance...
