Fire When Ready: A new Star Wars Armada podcast

By Armada Jim, in Star Wars: Armada

I listened to this on my commute this morning, and almost ran off the road laughing when Ackbar started singing.

First time he did his Ackbar impersonation...I was like WTF!!!!...now I've come to enjoy ye ole fishead :D

Good stuff, binge listening while taking care of chores & housework. Took a couple week break after regionals, but can't wait to play tomorrow.

Episode 14 is now live, where I talk about the Tacoma regionals and share my experience with how to handle losing.

During the opening you say that if both players have effects that are to be resolved, the 1st player decides in what order.

What you probably mean (I hope) is that the 1st player resolved his effects first, followed by the 2nd player (who himself decides in what order).

I really need to look this up now, since I was under the impression that if effects of opposite players are taking place at the same time it was up to the current player to decide what order they occur in. If it's first player that's just another reason why first player is so good!

RRG, Page 5, EFFECT USE AND TIMING:

• If two or more of a player’s effects have the same timing, that player can resolve those effects in any order.

• If both players have effects with the same timing, the first player resolves all of his effects with that timing first.

Yeah, my eyes slipped up a line on the rules PDF when I was writing the script; it'll be corrected and clarified in the future.

Love the podcast Jim, been listening since the beginning. Hope your time away is fruitful but don't be gone too long :-D

This is good stuff, look forward to the next episode!

I'm back, and Episode 15: Return of the Podcast is live. It has my hot takes on the new stuff and Fire Lanes talk.

Listening...best part is that the length is not too long, and they you're focused on the game.

Really enjoying the podcast. Akbar's tips at the beginning are priceless. :)

Thanks!

Yes, I usually listen to Ackbar at least twice.

Love the podcast! For someone like me who has no idea, how long does it take in man hours to produce one episode?

Having ran one in the past I would guess around 1 hour to maybe 1 1/2 hours.

That depends on how much research I do; I don't like to give out wrong information (even though I screw up occasionally, see the top of this page!) so I want to get all my ducks in a row. Writing the script can take anywhere from 2-3 hours based on that, then it goes through at least one editing pass. After that is recording, which only takes about 30-45 minutes, based on how mushmouthed I am while reading. That informs the editing process, typically that's an hour or less, sometimes a little more if I'm trying something fancy with sound effects, like I did this episode, then I have to find and record just the right one.

So all told, making one 20ish minuted episode of takes around 4-6 hours. :)

Wow!

Wow! Thanks for or all the time you put in it, I know everyone really appreciates the pod cast and love Ackbar!!!!!

Episode 16, with Gencon, Jumpmaster, and Fleet Ambush talk is now up.

I'm confused why would you want to wait to take your opponent?

Great show though as always!

Thanks Jim, I always look forward to your episodes. The one MAJOR thing I dislike about them is that they are too short, which tells you how much I enjoy them. Great job.
