Great, thanks. Downloaded for the drive home.
Fire When Ready: A new Star Wars Armada podcast
Great new episode, these are always great to listen to. I will say that Vader cannot be used to reroll attacks against squadrons though. Can't wiat for next episode, as the MC30 is my favorite of wave 2 as well.
Episode 10 is up, with my beloved MC30 and the beginning of my discourse on objectives with Most Wanted.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the format of my objective talk. Does it work for you? Is there something more you'd like to hear?
I love the honesty about Wave 3 and the MC30. ![]()
I noticed you mentioned that head to head is the new tie breaker...it is but they stipulate you have to beat everyone else ie. really only applicable in a 4 person tournament since you can't play someone twice. And need 30 or so people to have more than 3 games so it would not be a factor then either.

I thought that too, at first, then I noticed that "group" is specifically used to mean "players with the same number of tournament points". See the first sentence under the heading "Tiebreakers":
"If two or more players have the same number of tournament points, tiebreakers are used to determine each player’s standing within that group."

Yup, you only have to beat everyone else you tied with* in order for the head-to-head tiebreaker to come into play.

Cool. That is still a very limiting change but I guess avoids the I beat him but he had more MOV than me.
Episode 11 is up, with Precision Strike and Advanced Gunnery talk. More soon!
Good episode, I listened on the way home from work. Nice tribute to Erik Bauersfeld.
Did I hear that you said you need crits to flip a card, as reading the card it is only hits that are needed. I might have misheard though I was tackling rush hour traffic at the time.
Any way keep up the good work and keep the excellent podcasts coming.
Ooooo I didn't know about this podcast. *subscribed*
Listened to them all and I really enjoy the level of detail. Great podcast - thank you so much!!
I disagree with your remark about advanced projectors on the MC30c, it is very useful. The ability to save your ship to live another turn by burning every point of shield on your ship is very useful. It is a lifesaver against gladiators when you get in close to them, as it lets you tank a LOT of damage. The only downside is that it is wasted points against XI-7 ships, but I only see those on ISDs normally, and good maneuvering with the foresight title lets you stay safe as you approach.

It is still useful against XI7s, only marginally so. You can still redirect to an opposite zone. Now Foresight, that title is useless at close range against XI7s without a certain general. I would rather take Adv. Projector over Foresight unless I am running Mon Mothma.

Dammit, I even knew this, wrote it up and then got all turned upside down looking at the Armada wiki page and thinking the symbol was a crit. Fortunately, I still have the original script for it and could fix it fast. Thanks for letting me know!

I agree with you, they can be amazing. For me, though, the 30 is already fairly pricey and I think you get more, point for point, out of the titles. One of the grand things about Armada is that there's very few truly wrong things to do (like putting Turbolaser Reroutes on a MC80), so if you're getting mileage out of of APs on an MC30 that's awesome!
It's why I try to pepper my episodes with things like "for my money" and "for my taste", because it's all just, like, my opinion, man.
Also, I've stealth updated episodes 7, 9, and 11, so if you're a collector you'll want to refresh your feed and redownload those episodes to get the latest corrected information.
May the 4th be with you! Here's Episode 12!
Been enoying these. Thanks for producing them!
Nice work, Jim. Glad to see you are getting good responses from the community here. Jim is the resident rules dictionary/attorney at the FLGS where I play and is the go to guy when people are confused about how a rule or mechanic should play out. He's also a darn fun guy to play against. I will have to keep an eye on the podcast.
I'm looking forward to seeing/playing you at Tacoma Jim!
Episode 14 is now live, where I talk about the Tacoma regionals and share my experience with how to handle losing.
Jim, I took a three-week Hiatus myself. I visited the forms and painted some Fighters I had left over in the meanwhile. But sometimes stepping away from the game is a healthy thing.
For me, I had a extremely hectic work schedule while trying to enjoy this store Championship and Regional season. Unfortunately what should have been an enjoyable tournament experience snowballed into a lot of stress and frustration. When something you like to do becomes a source of stress in your life, that's never good.
I'm planning to break the fast so to speak this weekend. Should be fun meeting up with the fellow player and just getting a couple games in.
The Trains Planes and Automobiles reference and your outro for the episode were epic by the way!
To be clear, I'm only taking a hiatus from the podcast. I'm playing Armada tonight!
Good podcasts for sure!

During the opening you say that if both players have effects that are to be resolved, the 1st player decides in what order.
What you probably mean (I hope) is that the 1st player resolved his effects first, followed by the 2nd player (who himself decides in what order).
